Just because they -could- sell something doesn't mean they -have- to sell it, I'm not arguing from an economic point but from a moral one. Stardock who create their "Gamers bill of rights" to ensure a fair product that meets certain guidelines for there customers don't follow the same practice when it comes to sales. What would you say if EA, Paradox or whoever came to you as a retailer and said "hey, sell my games but you have to charge all black people 50% extra"
well, that is the fact about it.
Actually it isn't. From a consumer point of view the buck stops with you, the retailer. You wern't forced into anything. You negotiated a contract to allow the sale of these products so it would be more precise to say that you support this otherwise you wouldn't have signed the dotted line. They could have held a gun to your head and you could have still refused...but you didn't. I don't blame you, you're a busi
Oh, i assure you every conversation like you mention i've been a part of also had muting in place, still ends up a mess. You'd be better off doing as Scottish said and having a thread where people can ask questions, then have Stardock vet them and select the "best" 10 or so and pass them forwards, but even then you'll end up with a lot
No. The limited time constraints ensure you can't answer every question which usually results in anarchy on the chatroom as people who think their questions are important get pushed to the side while others as what they see as stupid questions get asked. Eventually people get annoyed and start to butt in anyway in an attempt to get heard and slowly devolves the experience into a slanging match. Add to that the dev's won't release anything important, "classified" or provide accurate an

You might see that happening around the Diplomacy Micro release. Reduce sins to $20 (making it more enticing to possible customers such as those who hear of it by word of mouth). Leave both expansion's for $10 (to generate revenue from new and old customers). Sell Sins and both expansions for a $35 bundle (the slight reduction further enticing those who would have only bought Sins to buy it along with the expansions from the offset).

Starcraft and DoW would both fall under Strategy games in my eyes as they involve economics, base building, army compositions, deployment strategies, logistics etc DoW2 however as an example would be an RTT as the emphasis is switched to individual unit control and micro-management with a focus on small scale battles centred around POCs. Its a very subjective line and everyone is different...however something like Demigod would be in most peoples eyes (at least those who
Individual units with an emphasis on micro-management makes it fall under the umbrella of tactical game (ala mech commander) rather than a strategy game (ala supcom). The level of "thinking" required is irrelevant.
Is it the type of game Stardock would have developed? No. If Stardock had made it it would have had a lot more single player to it and multiplayer would have been substantially different. It also wouldn't have had anywhere near the production values Demigod has (it's a beautiful game) as the exquisite quality of Demigod's visuals is something that few companies can match and GPG is truly awesome at that. Kudos to Frogboy for admitting the mistakes but you still have to wonder...with a pure multiplayer game what the hell were Stardock/GPG smoking when they designed the chat/lobby system? Its by far one of the worst i've ever encountered. For something so intergral to be let out in such a state means there are some serious questions that need addressing about both the design system in place -and- testing phases. Game sites like MS Zone from 10 years ago were more polished.
