I played the game for the first time today, and I've got to say this game has so much potential, and I'm really looking forward to being part of this beta.
I was a huge DoTA player back in the day and I always used to wonder why Blizzard never latched on to the massive popularity of the DoTA mod like Valve did with Team Fortress and Counter Strike by making a professional, polished version.
The concept behind the DoTA map was so fun, so fun in fact that more people are playing that mod now than the actual game Warcraft 3 - even though it's only one actual map!. The mind boggles about how much success a game like that could achieve with all the things a stand-alone game can offer: multiple maps, online matchmaking, ladders, a single player campaign, decent graphics, computer controlled AI ... the list goes on.
Finally this will be a reality and and amongst the millions of RTS clones, First person shooters and RPG grind fests there is finally going to be something different released, something I can load up and not feel like I've played this game 100s of times before.
The best thing about this though is the fact that it's Stardock are co-developing it. I played Galactic Civilizations 2 to death, the game was amazing and the support that Stardock gave to its customers was second to none - which is saying a lot because there are other companies like Blizzard who are very good in that department. I also highly respect Stardock's copy protection policy, and I'm always happy to spend good money on a company that realises that punishing the actual paying customers with DRM isn't the way to stop piracy.
Anyhoo, that's all I have to say, I haven't ran into any major bugs so far (which is surprising considering I'm using a mac with boot camp, which games often struggle with)
keep up the good work
