Just bought Demigod, Doesn't Work!

I just bought demigod today "04/10/09" and when I click on the demigod shortcut my mouse pointer shows the hourglass for about 1 second and then nothing happens.  I've entered the cd-key and registered the game through impulse, also I've applied the update through impulse and I still can't get the game to run.  If you guys have any info about this problem or if anyone else has the same problem please help, I've been really looking forward to playing this game but when something doesn't work the way it should it kinda ticks me off.

Are your graphic card's drivers up to date? Update them.

 

are you using a logitech webcam?...this was a common problem in the beta

Problem: I have a Logitech Webcam and the game won't run.

Solution: This is a known issue with Logitech's drivers. Logitech has
posted a workaround at:

If that still doesn't work you could post a dxdiag-report to give us some information about your system

(Start-->run -->dxdiag

save the report and upload it somewhere or post it to http://pastebin.com/ and then post the link in this thread)

I saw a note on the readme... Saying to start Demigod, load it from the Start Menu or using Impulse(actually just said start menu, but it worked for me from Impulse too). I never tried using the shortcut on desktop(it didn't auto make one or "ask to option" anyways), or the .exe file from the main folder.

 

Not sure if that's what you did... But I do remember seeing that, I think it was in the Readme.

Hopefully this will shed some light on my problem.

JKnuckle88, sorry I didn't clarify myself better, I created a shortcut from the Start Menu onto the desktop and clicked it to load the game.  I also clicked the program icon under the Start Menu and still had the same problem of the game not loading, I've also tried loading the game from impulse and had the same results as clicking the icon itself under the start menu.  I May have to reinstall my system, I've installed and removed so many games and apps since the last year that something could of become corupt, I defrag quite often so I don't see that fragmentation could be the problem. Maybe you guys can check out my dxdiag text file and see if there is some sort of conflict going on, and hopefully we can solve this problem together.  Thanks for all the help guys

Check to see if you have the Logitech Quickcam installed. If so, unload the system tray item.

if it's not the Logitech drivers, then it could be Comodo Defense Plus.

 

it too does something bad to Demigod, disabling Defense Plus clears that right up.

I don't have a Logitech Quickcam nor do I have any type of camera hooked up to my system.  Do you think that some other Logitech software could interupt with the game loading, I do have a Logitech G15 keyboard and a G5 Mouse. I do have the G15 keyboard software installed but not for my mouse. 

My System:

Win XP Pro SP3, Evga 122-CK-NF68-AR Motherboard "P33 Bios", Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 "Overclocked to 3.0ghz", Corsair Dominator Twin2x4096-8500C5DF, Dell 2407WFP LCD Monitor, Logitech G15 Keyboard, Logitech G5 Mouse, Realtek Onboard Sound "rev2.21", One XFX 8800gtx "Nvidia Driver 182.50", One Seagate 320gig 7200.10 sata hd, One Seagate 1.5 Terrabyte 7200.11 sata hd, One Sony 810a dvd burner, One Pioneer dvr710 dvd burner, Enermax Galaxy II DX 1000watt psu, Antec 900 case.

I thought giving this info would give a little insight into what may be wrong or what can be fixed. If you guy's need any more information just ask me and I'll post it here. Thanks

I don't think it's a problem with the G15(-Software). I have been using that keyboard during the beta without problems

Did impulse ask you to reboot after install, and/or have you rebooted at all since install?

Do you have a firewall? It could be blocking ports that Demigod needs.

Gamestop is selling it early.

Hi.

My demigod doesn't work. During the beta, the game worked perfectly, but now when I launch it and press the escape button to skip the intro, my game freezes. If I touch nothing, the games crashes and a fatal error appears but crashes too, so I can't read it. I don't have a logitech quickcam and comomdo is disabled.

 

Help

 

edit : Now, while touching nothing, the games works but crashes when I close it.

Thank you all so much for the help you've given me but I reinstalled my system and the game runs excellent now. I'm still not sure what program was causing the problem, I will continue to install the programs in which I had on my system before and I'll try Demigod out after each install, that way I'll figure out by process of elimination which program was the cause of the game not loading. I will post my results here so if anyone else has the same problem maybe I can point the in the right direction to fix the game.  Thanks guys for all your help.

One thing I do want to ask everyone, When you are about to go into an arena in single player mode does the game take an excessive amount of time to load?.  On my system it takes about 4 minutes to load and get into a tournament, Supreme Commander never took that long to load.  I'm sure with everyone's reports to tech support this and also other problems with eventually be fixed in future patches.

Mothra, glad it is working. You will experience lag every time the game tries to contact the server right now, which should be fixed by tomorrow I believe.

I figured out what the problem is, it's Comodo.  I installed it a little while ago and tried to load Demigod, It wouldn't load at all.  I tried disabling some of the features in comodo to no avail, so I just uninstalled the entire program and Demigod loaded up with no problems what-so-ever.

I'm sure the Dev's will come out with a patch to fix this problem or maybe the company who created Comodo will.  I hope one of the two comes out with a patch because I really like Comodo Firewall and Demigod also.

I also have the same problem but I dont have Comodo installed. If somebody knows any other problem that could cause this please help!
