skip the intro movies?

the patch notes said something about skipping the intro movies.  how do you do this?

Right click your Demigod Shortcut, click properties, add "/skipintro" to the end of the Target box.

Anyone know if it's possible to add the /skipintro modifier to Impulse?

Directly editing the movie files also works. (all .bik's)

Just rename them or move them to a backup folder, the game won't care.  Just be sure to put them back before an update, as the game seems to redownload them all again if it doesn't find them at those times.

I have to do it this way, as I use a small java program that limits FPS to 30 in all of my games (no noticeable quality drop, in return I get to run all of my games max settings without my GPU exploding).  It creates a .bat file that runs the game, so I can't use  /skipintro.

Files that need to be renamed/deleted/moved:

  1. dg_stardock_logo.bik
  2. dg_intro.bik
  3. dg_gpg_logo.bik
  4. dg_amd_logo.bik

These can be found in \Demigod\movies

Just left-click your mouse as it starts. You can even skip the ads that way; if you wanted to that is.

Im just able to hit the escape button to skip it...ever since I installed it before any of the patches.

I thought that there was to be an option to skip all of these in the last patch. I've played a few games since, but I am so used to clicking through them that I have forgotten to check and see if the option is there.

Yes, I understand about the /skipintro thing. I just thought that there would be a checkbox on the options screen that would allow us to skip them.

Ah, well no. The /skipintro command line options was added in the last patch, nothing else.

Shame that. The functionallity is there, it just isn't represented in the UI.

Yeah, I'd like to know that too. This is another thing that's better in Steam. You can define all the command line options you want there. (However, Steam works fundamentally different anyway.)

Ever read up on how to play Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor offline in steam?

Here's what you do:

  1. First start Steam regularly in Online mode with your computer hooked up to the internet.
  2. Run Company of Heroes and let it get to the main menu screen. Then exit Company of Heroes.
  3. With your computer still online, set Steam to Offline Mode (File -> Go Offline). Let Steam restart. You are now in Steam Offline Mode.
  4. Now with Steam in Offline Mode and your computer still internet-enabled, start Company of Heroes once more, letting it get to the main menu. Again, exit Company of Heroes.
  5. Exit Steam.
  6. Unplug your network from your computer.
  7. Start Steam once more.

 

So.. Yeah.. let's not start a steam vs impulse discussion... each app has it's own pluses and minuses.

I'm sure Stardock is going to continue to improve Impulse over time. I'd love to have command line arguments added into impulse too (galciv2 supports a "cheat" command line arg)

 

I'm sure Stardock is going to continue to improve Impulse over time, and this will be in there eventually.
