needing 256 up is kinda rediculous compared to any other game i know :/ why does this game need so much more then supcom when you have up to 8 controllable units in this game (ok and some minions) While you can go up to 8K units walkinga bout in supcom :/

I guess im doomed to play 1V1s then. even 2V2 tend to lag. Kinda shitty imo

Thats what i am hoping.. I have little ways of increasing my upload as i dont have a provider with a higher on in my area. And again, i have played 3 games with little to no lag

But sadly this will bring the problem closer to my own computer.. maybe i need a new modem/router/network card but it just wouldnt make sence as i would have issues with other games aswell ( i would asume)

this next patch should accomidate people (including myself) with lowend dsl connections and isdn lines. So basically people with crappy upload speeds will be able to play possibly 3v3 finally. Well see how much of an improvent it is. As of now im only stuck doing 2v2 and cant even experience the 5v5 epic battles =\. But hopefully this update will provide a suffiecient decrease in there bandwith usage

Below i explain why you can play "All other games" and not Demigod so wonderfully.

WoW and stuff (Ur x-box / ps3 games / other Online games) uses something we like to call "Client-Server". Therefor the server just keeps up-to-date with everyone and just sends you nice little info about whats going on.

In Demigod its p2p (peer-to-peer) and it doesn't work this way. YOU have to tell everyone in game what is going on just like they have to tell you everything going on with them (See if you think about it ... its pretty crazy huh? ALOT more info going around).

So think of it this way ...

2v2 - You are DLing from 3 people... their clients are telling you what is going on and you are telling them what is going on (so you are uploading to 3 people as well).

3v3 - Gets a little more intense! You are now DLing info from 5 people at a time while uploading your info to 5 different people.

5v5 - Now you are DLing from 9 people and uploading to 9 people.

See the difference? In WoW / "Other Games" (First-Person shooters ... any xbox/ps3 games) you and the server talk ... thats it. The server updates you what those thousands of kids are doing (On WoW) or the other 32 people (on a first-person shooter) ... your not having to talk and upload what your doing to every single person. Just the server and it takes care of it.

So thats the difference. Welcome to p2p. Its your connection...

Note: Next patch is suppose to reduce bandwidth by 35%. It comes out this week coming up (hopefully monday) so try after that patch and you should be good ... or maybe at least somewhat playable? Have to wait and see.

Nope, plenty of people with this problem check clear on Torrenting and have well over enough bandwidth. It's either an ISP issue or... Hell, I dunno. We're running out of fingers, eh?

ya i pay 20 bucks a month for my verizon dsl..i have alot of other bills to pay so cant really be paying 55$ a month.

Actually, there is a valid point here - Demigod simply uses too much Upload Bandwidth for no apparent reason. The fact that they can reduce the requirements by 35% on the first real update patch should point this out. It's netcode was poorly optimised. The most common connection type, according to Steam's survey - and Steam has quite a few users, has a 256kb upload speed. The fact that Demigod requires significantly more to enjoy the complete game is something that should have been advertised or eliminated before launch. I'm interested in seeing exactly what effects 1.01 has on the multiplayer experience.

No like ZehDon said this shows their terrible coding skills instead. It is very immature imo for the developers to trash the users internet connection when they are able to reduce the bandwidth usage by 35% in a single patch. Some people simply cant afford or they dont have a range of internet providers avaliable to them. But really their pathetic coding skills show when I can play 4v4 company of heroes or Dawn of war game completely fine but can barely play a demigod 3v3 game.....It's the game horrible network code and SD needs to stop blaming users connections and put their game on par w/ their competition(Relic must be superior programmers to GSP then in this case).

Yes pathetic skills, though of GSP most likely at not SD but no game should ever be released as the state DG was when it is mainly a MP game. Imagine if this game had an EA label to it, it would be flamed to hell and never see the light of day again. Only thing that is saving SD ass is their excellent reputation and their communication w/ customers abou the problems. I love Stardock as a company but I never want to see them release a game in the state that Demigod was ever again. I'm just saying simply the fact that they are reducing 35% of the games data trasmited shows GSP messed up badly somewhere.

Its really offesnive imo that FB rags on the users connection in his journals but then goes around and has the release a patch reducing 35% of the bandwidth.

SD has nothing to do with this. Frogboy has said that their are only responsible for the lobby connections. When in game, all that is happening there is GPG business, it's their code.

If you'd read down the Wiki page you copies and pasted from, you'd have read this lovely little gem:

Being as this game is sold internationally, the American definition means nothing. In my experience, Broadband is a term simply used to describe Internet Connections faster than Dial-Up Internet. If Demigod required a specific connection speed to experience a playable game when using the product as advertised - 5v5 Player-V-Player Mutliplayer - this speed should have been disclosed to the customer in much the same way as CPU or Video Card requirements are disclosed.
