Seriously need some news in game

Hi Devs,

Their is really something missing within this game. And you really need to add it as soon as you can.

Right now it seems like a LOT of people (if not all) are not able to login to Demigod and play Internet games. I then said to myself: "Let's go look at the forum for some feedback". I have not been able to found any official post from one of you guys to say: "We are aware of problem and working on it" - "ETA is...". After looking for 5-10 minutes I was wondering.... why do I need to manually log in to a forum and search for that? Why do I need to "search hard" and try to discover if any of you guys are working on the issue?

Why is their any news panel when I start the game? You know, like the one we see in WOW. So when I start WOW, I can see right away if their is a known problem and if you are working on it and when it can be possibly fixed. I think that is pretty much an easy way to help your users stay aware of problems you currently have or upcoming patch that is coming.

If I can continu on this subject of: "Let's guess what is happenning".

Seriously, I would really like to discuss with the person that decided to show the following text in the game: "Erebus now have a Lifesteal aura" -> Erebus skill. What was he thinking exactly? I was wondering if I actually bought a Trivia games where I need to discover how things works or if I bought a strategic game. Why isn't written: "You have a 15% Lifesteal aura"? What is the point of not writting down the exact numbers? Same thing goes for the skill of the oak, that does like 20 damage + Xdmg/Spirit. I would like to know IN THE game the exact way this skill works. Not searching within a forum to find this answer. ???????

Perhaps those numbers are in the game and I never saw them, them I am a crazy person.

I hope to have some feedback on that, to know if their is any patch coming to update this kind of display and communication to users.

World of Warcraft is a MMO that's $14.95.

Demigod is an RTS. Most RTS's do not have a news area in-game.

That said, I'll forward your suggestion to Gas Powered Games to see what they think.

i don't think they will add a news panel in the game, you want news, you go to the website. Gpg doesn't have the unlimited amount of cash to spend that blizzard have, so i can understand if that kind of feature is never added to the game.

However, concerning the skills, some texts are incomplete: when you just now that you have an aura but don't know the % there is a problem indeed.

But they can't explain how the maths work for a skill that adds dmgs to the oak in the little explanation text, it would just be too long.

What i think they should have added is a little in-game encyclopedia with every item, skill and achievement. That encyclopedia should also allow you to buy favor items and to view your collection, it is a bit disturbing to have to create a game vs AI just to check your favor points/items.

The admins can pretty easily update the chat code in impulse when you join channel demigod (and you can do this through impulse directly even with the login/pw issue). And by the way, the login/pw issue appears to have gone on for about 13 hours without any explanation or a "were looking into it" thread. It seems to have been resolved internally between 11:30am - 12:30am ET. (see over here for as many details as I could piece together... be aware that unfortunately the thread becomes a flame fest at times, but there's alot of info there http://forums.demigodthegame.com/355265)

edit - just to clarify, yeah, I don't think we can expect a news ticker or anything like that, but I'd hope we could get at least minimal communication from SD when severe issues occur... and I suggest that updating the chat banner might be a good solution... or at least a post... or...

during the week i also like to know what is going on (and to be honest stardock keeps us informed) but during the week end i can understand if there is noone to make a post.

yeah - good point fred. They do keep us well informed during the week. Just a little frustrated about the login/pw issue last night. Hoping what happened and how it was fixed is addressed. Also that perhaps the issue is acknowledged...

That seems straightforward enough to me. If you think that's too much text, go read the description of Raise Dead Ward .

That would be nice, but probably a lot more work for the devs than improving the tooltips.

Yep, they should really correct the tooltip. It is annoying to use a skill and to not know what exactly it does. I don't know the meaning of that. Hope to see better tooltip in the upcoming patches.

For the news in-game. I know Frog that Demigod don't charge 15$ a month, and I never thought that Demigod could be as much updated and huge like WoW. However, I also did not know that to show a small simple text message to a user it would be that much pricy and complicated. I don't work for a company like yours and don't know how it works exactly...

Well, I really like Demigod and think this is a beautiful game. I simply think that it could give more information to their users -> like what a skill do EXACTLY (so much important in a Strategic game...) and if their is a problem with servers, a small message when I start the game.
