New Player Basic Guide

I wrote this updated guide to cover the very bare basics of Demigod for mostly people just trying it through the demo. Its not really strategy so I put it here for the most people to see it.

Hey I've been playing the demo and this game is cool even if the very tiny number of maps/heroes (8 heroes 8 maps) is making me consider waiting for a price drop before I decide to buy it. But anyway, I  was wondering are favor points bugged in the retail version too? In the demo they are bugged. Sometimes I get points, sometimes I don't. The points I am rewarded are not the same as it says I will be rewarded at the end of the match. My favor points have been capped at 400 for a few rounds, is this normal? Is the favor points cap 400 in the demo?

I have not played the demo but the favor points work just fine in retail.

if you play vs AI in a custom game online, you will not get any favor points I believe

you only get favor points for completing a game with human players on both sides

Exactly, that is most likely what is happening. sumwar probably got some points from finishing some achivements which you will still get the points if you complete them against AI.

I'm curious as to whether anyone is aware of whether favor points transfer from the demo into retail or if they are reset.  I imagine the favor points are bound to your account, not to your build, but I haven't seen this asked or answered yet.  I'd like to build up my favor points to acquire a reasonable item before converting over to retail so that I'm not walking into a totally unfair situation right off of the bat (aside from the already unbalanced player skill levels).

The favor points are tracked separately for the demo and retail. I got the demo to played a game and try to encourage people to get the retail, and I didn't have any favor points in the demo.

That's a shame.  I really can't deal with the fact that there's an advantage the other players will have against me totally besides the skill difference.  If the game goes on sale I'm sure the player base will boom and I'll try coming over then.

win 4 games, purchase blood of the fallen, and other players no longer have any advantage over you

They reset favor with the previous major patch, and will likely do so again with the upcoming major patch (which should be sometime in August).

It's really not a big deal, the 2nd item in the list , the 400hp, 5hp/s and 10% death penalty item is very close to as good as any other item you can get.  Just get that till you can get your desired item is my advice.
