Loading Problem

In-Game

So I can get onto the game and everything all fine. The voice glitches.. alot.. but I can deal with that. The real problem is that when I get into the game and select single player (I haven't tried multiplayer yet) I choose my Demigod and my opponent, click ready, and launch the game. This is where it screws up. The loading screen just sits there, appearing to load but the game but the skirmish never starts. The light in the middle fades in and out, giving the appearance that everything is fine. What do I do?

Do you see the words [no text] in the middle of the screen towards the bottom when the map is loading?  If so, do this and you'll be fixed:

Close the game.  Goto C:\Users\YOURUSERNAMEHERE\Documents\My Games\Gas Powered Games\Demigod.  Now, delete game.prefs.  Restart the game and try a game again.  That should fix you up if you have the no text issue.  Otherwise, can you post any additional information regarding your problem?

Well it finally came up with the skirmish, and seeing as it lags like no game I've ever seen on a single player I think its my processor. I have 2.8 GHz. All the rest of the stuff I should have.

 

Tips? Suggestions?

Suggest you provide more details on your specs.   

It sounds strange that the demo would run fine and the full version would not.   What operating system... how much ram... video card... is this a laptop... what specific cpu, etc?  The more info you can provide, the better.  Also, if you want to speed up this process, send and email to support@stardock as well.  Send them a link to this thread AND provide them with as much info on the problem as possible.

If you uses Windows Vista, make sure you have at least SP1 installed.

I had same issue without SP1 on Windows Vista - game was just hanging at loading screen.

 

 

Still, without your full specs, it's like completely guessing what can be wrong with your computer / OS.

Ok so I'm not quite such an expert on computers so forgive me please if I seem a little inept at trying to relay my specs

OS: Windows XP

2 gigs of RAM

Video Card : Radeon 9550

Not a laptop

I think the CPU is Intel Celeron

Edit: I also run McAfee security

Your video card does not meet the game's minimum requirements. The game must have a video card with Shader Model 3 support at a minimum to work properly, which in ATI's case is the Radeon x1k series or higher. The official requirement is a Radeon x1600 since the lower-end x1s are quite weak.

So would a Radeon 4650 (http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0298792) do the job?

Nope, it won't. This card is weak.

Beside, if you are using Radeon 9550, you probably have AGP interface, so you need AGP card (a bit old one these days) or new motherboard and PCI-E card. New motherboard will probably need new memory, processor (different socket), power supply and basically it will be new computer

There are still some cards on AGP interface, but imo it's just wasting of money. You would have to buy something like Geforce 6xxx series or HD 4650 (the card you asked about, but AGP version). Well, I have 6600GT installed on my 2nd computer and imo it's just not enought to play even after set minimum level of details (game has ~15 frames per second, and to play comfortable you need double that value).

If you want gather some informations about graphic cards, I suggest you to check this website

Good link for him, Poul.  Check that site out, Duke!  Tomshardware is a great site. 

You really need to find out if your computer needs an AGP or PCI-express card.  I'm sure we can probably recommend something for you, but need to know what interface you have FOR SURE before you bother purchasing something.  Try google if you can't figure out what you have (google agp vs pci express).

To check interface (not only craphics card, but processor socket and memory type too), you can use program called Everest. Using google, you can find old (but free version) Everest Home Edition, it should be good enought to check basics.

When you run Everest, just navigate to motherboard -> motherboard section and then you can find out what interface do you have (look for AGP or PCI-E x16). Read there what processor do you have too. You can just copy all informations from motherboard -> motherboard section (RMB -> copy all) and paste them here if you are unsure what fields you have to check.
