If they removed idol minions from the game, and made point bought minions more viable, I believe the games balance would come closer to what it should be. As it stands now idol minions and swarms of erebi/oak minions are uncounterable with equal level assassin builds. Thats the opinion I hold, and to a certain point it is true. You can stack health and overcome minions... but in reality you have to nerf yourself just to counter a minion build that isn't fun to play as or against in the first place. This game sits in a place inbetween RTS games and DOTA style pvp, and the minion builds of various demigods are wrecking the potential of what this game could be.
There are many solutions to the overall balancing issues that arise when allowing such differentiating game plans, but in the end cutting out 1 extra variable would go the furthest to bring the game in line to where it was originally designed to be. As it stands now, generals and assassins have 3 things not in common. There special favors, the ability to buy idols, and the different moral/stat buying options. Eliminating the line of special favor items, and destroying idols or allowing all DG to purchase idols would be a viable way of equalizing the playing field.
Removing horn of battle and HoL was the first step in elimination of variables. As the developers eliminate more items that have adverse effects on game play, it will soon be realized that the ability of half the classes in the game to purchase idols has an imbalancing effect on the game as a whole. Either they must be purchasable by all DG, or by none. I also feel that favor items should be 100% universal. Blur the line between assassins and generals, and then define it through skill sets and play styles rather than restricting what items I can buy in game.
