Windows 10 Media Event Roundup

As posted earlier, Microsoft had a media event today to give more details on what’s upcoming in Windows 10 for PC, tablets, mobile, etc.  They showed lots of features of Windows 10, announced that upgrades will be free for the first year, Cortana integration, Spartan browser, and also showed off some cool new technology.

I assume you meant UPGRADE, updates have always been free. 

 

I am betting that free UPGRADES means forced upgrades and I'm guessing MS didn't like that so many stayed with 7. It messes up their plan for cross platform computing. (World domination.....muahahaha)

I don't use any of the other Microsoft products so no need for me to upgrade. My win 7 works just fine here. My be fine for the people that use Xbox and iPhone's. I won't ever be going there. Of course I'm old so you can expect me to say this. They are working on the now generation and I can understand that. Makes me most sad about the skinning situation it may cause or should I say lack of skinning it may cause.

Last I would like to add my own thoughts. Like so many other things they don't care about the older people. Guess they have to go where the money is as that is what all the giants do.

I've read everything on Neowin, over the past hour, on today's announcement..........and I don't see anything that remotely displeases me...........Looks like Microsoft are listening to consumers and are going to give us a product that is going to be enjoyed by everyone. Way to go, Microsoft.

I use 8.1 on all my rigs except my laptop, which is Windows 7. I like 8.1, with and without Stardock.

I have 10 Preview on 2 rigs and I like it ok as well. Looking forward to the future release.

RND...both myself and MS don't really differentiate between the terms...they see the next OS as an 'update'...and this current PUSH to coerce people to 10 by making it free is to get past the situation they had with 8 ....that altogether too many people stayed with 7 or worse still....'down graded' from 8 back to 7.

The sooner MS gets its user base ALL on the same platform - the better - FOR THEM...

Supporting legacy OS [plural] is a pain....and not just for them but for third party devs too...

I'll definitely switch to 10 as the prime OS when it's Gold... because as far as my hardware is concerned [new machine] Win 7 is definitely 'legacy'.

Running a UEFI boot into a M.2 drive with 7 is 'entertaining' at best and clunky at worst.

This critter has the capacity to turn on almost before you push the button [it's quick] ...
