What happened to DX9 load?

I have a computer that would be able to handle this game with no issues but the lag and crashes were a problem in the normal load up. I tried the DX9 load and it fixed the lag and crashes completely. After the patch there is no more option to load in DX9 which only leaves me with a super laggy game.

To start with D3D9, In steam, right-click on game, click properties, and then set launch options. Add this: -force-d3d9

There is a .bat file that you can also run in the game directory, but I find this a more convenient way to start it.
