I don't know if any of you guys are a fan of the mini's genera. Did anyone here ever play games workshops short lived Battlefleet Gothic.

That game was pretty fun.

Some of the stuff I liked from there.

1. Massive torpedoes

Were talking about ship killers that you had to move the ship out of the way from and could use to move other guys ships out of areas that you wanted to go into.

2. Boarding action

You could fire "boarding torpedoes" and basically take over a ship or failing at that sabotage large sections of it.

3. Ramming / Fire Ships

Some ships could ram it was pretty sweet some could also function like a big torpedo.... that was awesome.

4. The ships had sections you could knock out an engine ... that was pretty cool.

5. Ships could really blow up

As in they would implode and take down anyone who happened to be near them that was pretty awesome.

6. Some ships as i recall could use gravitic and solar wind effects

Hey just a simple question but do those have working weapons yet? If so, how did you do it? In the mesh editor (the emitter thinggy)?

well i just put an emmiter on the front cannon now im trying to figure out how to make the side cannons work anyone with knowhow like to fill me in on the weapons?

also codeherder i should probbly post this i your thread but a way of telling witch way it will fly would be good because the first model i put in flew backwards with the center as just behind the engines

also is there a limit game wise as to how many guns you can have per ship because i will be putting emmiters for all the cannons and lances on my biger ships and i dont know how im gona do it if i use your tool considering there are only 4 emiters i can chose from... what happens if i double up on the same emmiter?

summery how do i assighn weapons to emmiters? how many emmiters can be put on the same model? and what happens if i double up?

Heh, I really need to clear this up. You can have as many say "weapon-1" emitter as you want in one model. Each weapon-1 emitter will fire the weapon you set as weapon 1. So you can have 30 weapon-1 emitter if you want to. It's gonna be quite a light show if you do that.

Note that it doesn't change the damage output of the ship at all. The damage ratio is set in the ship config file, this is just eyecandy. A cap ship I'm looking at right now as 60 emitter for example.

As for the center and direction, I could but its not a huge priority. I mean once you know which axis is front in your 3d package of choice you'll always know it. As for the center just make the center of your ship at 0,0,0 in your 3d package. It will be the same in game.

ok i figured out the emmiter thingy which will be fun for bfg ships that have like 8 barrels per side on a cruiser (the frigate im putting up now has 3 per side and 1 at front) so there will be a lot of firepower flying around also what is the left and right firepower thingy for the gun in the entity file for if i change it i start getting errors

i have fighters and bombers for chaos done but i realy need someone who can do textures to help me out i cant get this mod moving without it
next model is going to probbly be a chaos cap ship possibly their carrier to put the wonderful fighters and bombers in... theirs another gameplay change that will be in there will be alot more fighters and bombers around

also how would i go about adding a new build menu for battle/heavy cruisers because i dont recon il have room in the cruisers menu (chaos has 6-7 diferent cruisers plus 3-4 heavy cruisers)

You could try cross-labeling some of them to frigates...?

ho hum i gues il have to specialy seeming there is only 3 types of frigates for chaos and IN but eldar are completley changed around so the emphasis in this mod will quite certainly be taken of the cap ships and put on the cruisers (or frigates in eldars case) so it will probbly play quite differently

also code herder your right side emmiters dont seem to work it gives me an error saying that there is a weapon there but no emmiters for it when i am sure that the right side ones are there, instead it seams to be that the right side emmiters point to the front also on the thingie that you edit emmiters with it repeats the same options huge amount of times and my right side turrets have spun round (they werent actuly attached just sitting there

my school week ends after tommorow so il have more time to look through the code. its great to see all the suport im getting here  :D makes me feel like getting you guys somthing to play with more to bad i cant release anything using ip of anyone else but gw otherwise id put together a mini version after i get chaos together

also anyone got any idea for bording attack craft? i was thinking suicide ships that have a realy close range weapon that they use or a close range ability that ignores sheilds and hurts them as well to represent them bording and doing as much damage as possible

It takes time to learn 3dsmax. It took me over 3 years to learn what i know, and i still dont know everything about max yet. I use version 6, and now we got version 9. Its one of those "easy to use, hard to master" programs. Dont ask me to help model, because i have too much on my plate now, and zero time to do it.

If you are truly interested in learning modeling in max. I suggest you google some tutorials, and start there. There are also texturing tutorials as well.

Hey, for lance weapons use the Kol's beams! :CONGRAT:

Problem is with this mod, you probably need to rewrite how much damage these weapons do and bonuses vs what ship and whatnot.

yep there will be alot of changes put in emphasis' will be changed and such things what im going to have to do is find a way to directly transfer the rules to the game and figure out how long a turn will last for in game time then making ships will be easy wapons i think im going to have weapon batteries do 20 damage per point of weapon battery strength but have a slightly higher rate of fire and less accuracy than lances which also might be more like 60 damage per shot

right now would be a good time to start a new thread where i can advertise that i nead a team expansion wouldent it... anyway the other 2 frigates for chaos should be done very soon and i think the next ship will be the carrier cap so after that probbly comes the cruisers which should progress quickly because the only change between most of them is the weapons then grand cruisers the rest of the caps then on to the marines!

races will probbly end up as all but Dark Eldar who will be put as pirates cos they have all of 2 different types of ships and i duno bout ad mech they might even end up as their own race after the rest are done because they are essentialy the in with upgrades wouldent be much diferent so it will be decided when we get to in which race comes after marines will probbly be decided by vote (inert fears the IN prows  :LOL: )

also anyone who wants to help is welcome! i cant emphasise this more i need help! a team of two is gona find doing 8 races hard specialy when neither of em can texture.

I wonder if you can make them a completely new race (aka keep all 8 of those in and the TEC, Vasari, and Advent). Wish I could help with you're textures, but I don't have photoshop or the skills to use it (I need skinners for my star wars mod btw ;) ...eventually lol)

I'd love to help, but i have the amazing powers of incompetence that made a bloody recoloring go awry (couldn't get the right color to add transparency, so roland the headless thompson gunner became roland the fuschia-headed thompson gunner). Also, i'm overworked, and i've got a month in which me and a partner have to write a working MUD engine and scripting system from the ground up. So i'm no help for a while, but if you give me time, i might be able to help, especially if it takes till summer. Also, count seventy-five votes for eldar, because nothing will get people excited like screenies of the eldar flitting around and pulsar lancing people while looking all organic and cool (Plus, if they get hit by weapons batteries, there'll be loads of atmospheric explosions. BONUS!!!). Also, if you want some schematic views of ships that can be ripped out of the rulebook, just tell me and i'll send 'em to you. If you need model pics, ask somebody else. Just one race you don't want to try: 'nids. While making ships that eat your enemy is admittedly awesome and cool, I don't think the engine will handle it.

nids are last on the to do list and any help would be apreciated at tho moment we have a modeler (inert) and a coder/get-it-all-together-and-in-game'er (me) and we have the rulebook to go off and im sure this will go till summer (depends well im in the ausieland so it IS summer) because when im doing something i enjoy i end up being rather tenacious as long as things are happening or could be happening i will keep going so any help even just ideas for what to do with buildings would be good or someone who can do a uv map for the ships then i could get my sister to maby do it

ether way il have an update on ships hopefuly by tommorow ... also i have all of tommorow off from school so i might get somthing done

UPDATE! ok inert reports that the desolator cap ship is done and so when i get it of him il see if i can get it in game for a bit

thats alot of guns im thinking that if i put emmiters on all of them im gona make another reason why caps are rare

theirs a pic of its very fine prosterior and another veiw of the lance turrets

and theirs a pic of the ship in formation with some iconoclast destroyers

this ship for those who arnt familiar with BFG chaos has 4 points of lances per side 9 prow torpedo tubes (torpedos will be alot different to sins missiles they be bigger and less acurate but hit alot harder)and dorsal cannons (str 6 for those in the know) so it can throw its weight around quite well it also has 4 anti fighter turrets (all ships have at least one) 4 sheild points and 12 health points so a nasty ship all round

will see if i can squeeze another model out of him latter but for now its goodnight as its late

well i duno genraly bfg dosent like the y axis but i gues that they probbly could anyway what diference does it make they will have a 90 degree fire angle which i gues includes up and down

and yes thats a shitload of emmiter good thing these ships are rather simetrical

well if i get one i might lend em to you i beleave in inter mod help inert is currently about to start the cruisers and so very soon we will move on to the marines which due to their small selection of ships shouldent take long

im about to import this beast into sins and show a Kol real beam weapons (well atm it probbly will BE a kol but thats beside the point)

also iv been surfing scifimeshes and have found some models that wont be released but il put in just for some cool screenies

im giving both chaos and IN grand cruisers they will be classed as cap ships to fill the hole...

now what to put as the chaos seige cap ship...
