I don't know if any of you guys are a fan of the mini's genera. Did anyone here ever play games workshops short lived Battlefleet Gothic.

That game was pretty fun.

Some of the stuff I liked from there.

1. Massive torpedoes

Were talking about ship killers that you had to move the ship out of the way from and could use to move other guys ships out of areas that you wanted to go into.

2. Boarding action

You could fire "boarding torpedoes" and basically take over a ship or failing at that sabotage large sections of it.

3. Ramming / Fire Ships

Some ships could ram it was pretty sweet some could also function like a big torpedo.... that was awesome.

4. The ships had sections you could knock out an engine ... that was pretty cool.

5. Ships could really blow up

As in they would implode and take down anyone who happened to be near them that was pretty awesome.

6. Some ships as i recall could use gravitic and solar wind effects

Awesome looking ships! (You've painted the SM ships like the ones at the model store i go to...wierd!) The Chaos ships really look amazing!

Haha thanks for the comments guys. THought I might as well, the thread had gone quiet for a bit. As for what it has to do with it.... Well, as Thrawn said, the mod is based off of those models. The scheme for the SM ships is the Dark Angels chapter, a popular chapter in the 40k universe, which is probably why they are the same colour as te ones you saw. And with the CHaos ships, I was a little lazy and painted them using only washes (Besides the metalics). It was the easiest paint job I have ever done lol. Gryphone Sepia on top, Devlan Mud/Badab Black bottom, chainmail metals. Easy as lol. Be sure to post up your ships when your done, X, I really want to see them!

Oh yes Kiernyc and I played a game with just regular 40k models. I won :grin: But he probably could've killed most of my guys with his warboss had my terminator sergeant not gotten lucky.

So we started playing another 40k game (this time my tau vs. SM) The most epic point (for me anyway), I GOT MY REVENGE (somewhat) ON THOSE DAMN TERMIES! Ok, so the termies charged my unit of stealth suits (with a markerlight drone EMPHASIS ON THIS!) The terminator segeant failed to kill anyone so then my guys struck. IN AN ACT OF EXTREME HEROISM (that exceded the drone's programming) the markerlight drone against all odds....killed a terminator. So basically, he shot a little flashlight into the termie's eye and then body slammed him. Unfortunately, when the power fists started swinging, the squad was promptly turned to soup. (Including the heroic drone!)

Well I am probably still going to win. And I did blow up your devilfish (with a whole squad insides) VERY early on.

 

But yeah, drone killing anything but a Squig doesn't make sense. He had to roll a 6, then a 5 or a 6, then I had to roll a 1. Very stupid >_>

They have been. Development practically stopped for several complicated reasons though. So progress is slow...

How about just codding the abilities and all and forget about the ships themselves!

Seeing as they are plenty of mods out there already packed with new ships..All you would have to do is add a certain ability to the shp of your choice!

Just an idea seeing as I'm new to this particular mod!

I knew a guy whose life's ambition was to get a sanctioned psyker to instakill a bloodthirster with his force weapon. killer drones look downright common in comparison.

 

And I'm sorry I'm a lazy bastard, but I want more ship models to play with. Screw it, I think I'll proxy the imps soon, but I make no promises. And we'd have a public beta with some proxies now, but GW requires that all the IP in the mod be theirs so they don't get sued or something, so we need more ship models. Also, I'd absolutely love it if you guys who do have the test version could do a bit of balance playtesting, especially thrawn and kiernyc, because you guys can actually play against each other and pretty much anything I do seems to own the computers and I can't just tell the computer to build a certain fleet composition (well, actually, I'm pretty sure I can and will end up doing so eventually, but not in the near future).

no beta patch! bad thrawny!  :P The beta patch isn't compatible with any mods. I'll send it out once I'm done eating or something.

 

Also, part of the reson I've been slacking is that I'm subconciously thinking that all my work's going to be invalidated by 1.1 so why bother making a ton, so I should be a lot more prolific once that's out. Either that or I'm going to be busy with entrenchment and fallout 3. Either one's a possiblity.

Late to post but I was playing with putting ships designs into game but had limited success, what is a successful process to do it _ simply i've no experience at skins but like to make ships in bfg style.

I need to know programs, processes and various limits poly's etc, any help out there as i have plenty of metal/plastic models and would like to make some of my customs appear in game - i want ships in first before all the environment stuff (did have some ealry success with capturing ships but with frustrations at ship import failures gave up and awaiting others who have more success at importing)

I even tried following the early guides but limited success - have lost interest in platform because of my failure

Help appreciated - been waiting since homeworld for success

personaly i suck at making them but i can get em ingame... barely. the importing guide in the sins mod toolkit is actualy realy good when you realise wtf you are doing (took me a while =P) other than that i cant be any help whatsoever

also dudes and dudets(if there are any) i'll probbly start importing imperials soon cos i'ma bored of chaos and need somthing fresh

other than that i'm on the beta patch too so all testing and codeing is awaiting that
