Will I be able to run the game well?

My current specs are 2x8500GT (1gig) in SLI

3.0 Gigs of RAM

Quad Core 2.4 Ghz processor

I'm just hoping the game runs smooth without me having to upgrade my video card. Anybody have any feedback from the beta as to whether or not I'll be able to run it well?

2x8500GT (1gig) in SLI

Wow, you really got suckered... That's barely better than a 8600GT.

Yah. The only reason to go with an 8500GT is if you're on too tight a budget to actually buy a decent card--you'd have been better off spending the money on a single card that's overall better.

Yes, you'll be able to run this game fine and pretty much any game in the next 2 years.

lol 2x 8500gt?

But yeah should be able to run it.

Yeah thats the problem. I really got screwed with the 2 x 8500 GT and I'm just wondering if I could play the game without upgrading to an 8800 or something.

I would go to where you bought the computer from and yell at them to take them back and give you a 8800. :P

justs hope and pray that they don't break and nothing insane (say, Crysis) falls into your lap, save up and buy a HD4850 (this is coming from a die-hard nVidia fanboy with a 8800GT). the 8-Series is old and superseded (but by no means slow), there's better things on the market.

but with respect to the computer listed; it should run DG no problems at 1280x1024.

4850 should run it at 1900x1200. :x

SLI is not cost effective at any price point.  The only time you should realistically consider SLI is if you are able and willing to buy top of the line, wherein you don't mind dropping $500+ for a sub 10% increase in frame rate.  At the moment, you can nab a 9800GT for <$150, for instance.

Something else to keep in mind is to always get ram in even amount of sticks.  DDR is a nice thing, and there is no reason to not go for it.  Unfortunately, this generally precludes weird amounts of ram like 3gig.  I don't think anybody makes 1.5gig sticks.  You would be better off with 2 gigs (2x1gig) or 4 gig (2x2gig, or 4x1gig (64bit systems only)).

Quad core is also more of a future proof move than anything; there is a shift to making more application use parallel processing, and some apps currently do (compilers, renderers, video editors) and some games do (supreme commander, demigod (most likely, since the game is based on the SC engine)).  However, be a little wary - while it is a future proofing move, by the time something like quad core is the new standard (as duel core is today) there will be better and cheaper alternatives.  Unless you really need those extra cores, you'd be better off with duel core at the moment, in terms of price vs performance.

I didn't ask for an analysis of my system. I'm aware with what I bought. Can you answer if I will be able to run the game well at 1440x900?

Wow are you serious?

SLI isn't effective at any price point?

I have the same google as you, and i have no problem finding out how that statement is.

Dollar for dollar, SLI is less efficient compared to similarly priced single card configurations. So... yes he is serious.

The cost of a nForce motherboard is a part of the SLI consideration, along with increased power consumption, heat, and varying SLI returns.

Okay.  Show me where you're getting these 2x 8800GT/2x 4850, vs $220/$340 graphics cards comparisons that show the 2x 8800gt or 2x 4850 don't win.

Thanks.

What about 1440 x 900?
End of BlizzaP's quote

it's a simple bit of maths; 1280x1024 has a total of 1,310,720 pixels. 1440x900 has a total of 1,296,000.

since 1440x900 is less than 1280x1024 i'd say it'll do just fine.
