Your thoughts on Regulus.

Is he really that bad?

Ok, we now know that Regulus is going in for an overhaul (Or TLC, whichever you prefer :D)

My question is: Is Regulus really that bad? I'm not complaining about him being removed, just asked what other people think. A lot of the people that I play with really do feel hes underpowered, myself included...sometimes. I've played him a few times and noticed a LOT of utility but not much when it comes to a streight up fight. To be expected I spose, but does the utility make up for the fact that he can't stand toe to toe in most cases?

So, what do you think? Is he Terrible? L2P? Why?

he needs a buff, his snipe is worthless, and that is what made him, him.

I'll agree that lvl 1 snipe and maybe level 2. I'm not sold on lvl3 being useless. I've seen too many people sniped by it.

150-300-450 I believe is the progression. Should the lower levels be raised? Maybe make it 300-400-500?
But I think that gives the ability too much application due to the range. I think the damage needs to be somewhat low but not to a point of uselessness.

Thoughts?

In 1A, Regulus really brought nothing to the table that the other demigods don't.

When the +200dmg gloves and the AoE wossits got removed, he lost the ability to be big autoattacker. Torchbearer has plenty in the way of ranged control, as does Rook (with Boulder Roll). TB brings some pretty good AoE to the table too. UCB can be a monster autoattacker, and with recharge items can be doing ridiculous damage pretty much all the time.

The only thing Regulus really has is a ranged slow on weak attacks and the ability to stun if he can lure someone over a mine (and mines recharge too slowly and cost too much to be a truly useful choice).

He really needs some adjustment to bring him to the level of the others, if nothing else.

Well, honestly, thats exactly why I asked here.

In playing with someone in a 3v3 as Reg, he did a DAMN good job. The snipe alone was one of the most influential abilities of the game.
I can see when creeps actually aggro on you how his mines will demolish them. I do think he needs to be buffed, I just dont think hes the mess of a Character that he seemed to be at first.

ya, but level 3 snipe is 1000 mana, &$%* that, make it mana use less

Or make it have less cooldown, or both...

only mess he had was sucky mines

There will always be those rare few people out there who can take an underpowered thing and play it so it seems to be on par.

When I'm playing them, at least, there seems to me to be a clear power difference between Regulus and the other ones.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I agree. The power difference is there.

Lemme ask ya this.
Does his utility warrent his lack of Umph?
Is this the feel he should have?
How do you think he will be redone?

He either needs to be brought up to speed with the others in terms of abilities (mildly better snipe and way better normal mines) or the items that made him unbeatable brought back in. Also i rekon his slow should last slightly longer and his sinpe scope should add a minor damage bonus. I agree that he isnt as bad as he origionally looked, but he still needs buffing

If they were to buff his mines, they would definantly need to make then unable to overlap. You can make a pretty large boom in a single area really easy atm, I'd hate to play if reg could just drop 1hitterquitter areas all over the map. (Would be fun for reg though.)

I miss Regulus :(

Even though i have not played regulus(dodn't have beta yet) i think what regulus probobly needs is for his snipe to do more damage but a longer cooldown. That way he is a good finisher. Like some one kills a demigod 3/4 then regulus comes in and snipes them out.Bam!! Their dead. This will also allow their to be a little fear making regulus have an edge. Players might be more wary of him making their demigods less effective. I might have it completly wrong but in wc3 in a custom game their was 1 hero. He had horrible(like half health of others) health, good range, and a great damage but couldn't compete 1v1 by a longshot. But he had 1 move that was called snipe. It could do like half damage to a hero and it also had amazing range. Its downfalls were alot of manalike all, long cooldown. Other people would still eventually use theirs heroes less for in fear of getting them killed and feeding enemy.

I loved how Regulus worked before ON MY TEAM.
Knowing the mines were always there if I needed to retreat into them. Being able to call SNIPE to a friend is fun as hell. The tracking? Simply amazing.

Playing him...was a different matter.
The mines were great, but not active enough to be a fun ability to use. The snipe is great, but the uses are sometimes far between. His range is great, but it's not fun to just watch your character shoot.

So my question still remains: Is his utility worth the fun factor exchange?

I think his wings should play a lot more in his look. Build him one way, he gets Angel Wings.. build him another - he gets Demon Wings. Wings which you ALWAYS see, not just when he uses his specials.

Isn't half the point behind him being a demigod in the first place that he got his wings chopped off and his fellow angels rejected him?

Well I honestly don't know much about his story, but I liked his wings! He needs more wing-time.

Yah i agree he does need wing time more often. Maybe a move or something that makes him fly around aunit dishing out damage on it while dodging all attack on it or something.

Makes ya kinda feel bad for him :(

But yeah, I agree. His wings shouldnt show. I thought it'd be cool though if he got like a ghost image of this wings when he reaches lvl 25.

Descended from a race of angels, Regulus was one of his race's mightiest warriors, leading the angelic army into battle after battle. Betrayed by his second-in-commmand, Regulus was turned over to an enemy Demigod who brutually tore off Regulus' wings. When Regulus returned home, he was immediately ostracized by his fellow angels, who felt that he had shamed them by allowing his wings to be removed.

Banished from his home world, Regulus began to carve out an existence as a dark avenger, exacting revenge upon all of those that would harm others.

Doh.

Yeah, I know his story, which is why I feel the ghost of his wings would look cool, just for the look.

The mines were great, but not active enough to be a fun ability to use.

Woah, how sweet would it be if Regulus had spider mines?  Maybe they can only move a couple of meters, but it lets you control lanes far more effectively than the 0.01 build

LOL AT SPIDER MINES! that would kick so much ass, id laugh if the chased indefinatly and u were low hp, get  to ur base, and BAM 3-4 run into killing you. Although getting past lots of towers might be hard.

In terms of his mines, I think they should be activatable, 2 types, walk in and boom, or wait hit a hot key to detonate, I hated laying a few mines in a row and what now, only to have 1 or 2 minos take them out...

I think the problem with your quote is the "." in Gamereplays.org.  "." usually break the quote.  If you edit out the period in the "quotewho=' '", it should then work.

Yah they would only chase for a step or two, and be assigned priority when visible for any ranged unit like archers or towers.  I'm thinking this or a trip wire - something that really allows area denial as well as harrassment - would make minelaying more dynamic

Yah maybe mines bombs and miniturrets. Or a combination of them. The turrets would pop up if a enemy past a certain line . Bombs u can det urself. Mines have a large radius and and blow 1 sec after something enters so theres more guys in blast radius.
