Ganking and surprise attacks are missing

The thing I miss the most from DOTA is the fact that you have almost all map on sight. You know where is everyone and what are they doing. The map's shape and paths does not allow ganking, backdooring a hero or teambanging enemy heroes. Just lane, lane, lane, help and pushing in all the matches I've played. Besides, the whole "TELEPORT AND HEAL FOR FREE" thing renders that kinda of game impossible.

What's the point in getting an Assassin if they are just buffed Generals? I wanna go for other heroes, not just lane and stuff.

PD: Additional thougt, there are no actions available on minimap, so it's kinda difficult to aim teleport when under pressure.

no suprise attacks? what about teleport ambush? telelock enemy portals? (also they increased the price on teleport scrolls in beta 3)

edit: i aggree on the map thing it would be nice to give orders on the minimap

So I have to pay for a teleport if I wanna gank? and there are only a couple places where I could do it? still not the same...

Well the two aren't supposed to be the same...

There are loads of stuff in DotA that isn't in Demigod, and as such there are lot's of stuff in Demigod that's missing from DotA. And I'm not sure if the feature of "ganking" a player without them being able to escape or respond is a good thing. (For example: Rook hidden somewhere, stunning you with boulder roll then hammer slam, you're pretty much dead early game as a Torchbearer, and can't really counter it if you can't see him casting that boulder roll.)

On the minimap I agree, we at least need to be able to use the teleport on the minimap.

Minimap teleporting is an awesome idea for those who want to have fun, not try to scrape his life together.

Ive seen ganking on Prison :)

Eew, I hate ganking. Don't wanna be ganked either.

Since the minimap rotates with the view, it might be hard to get your bearings on it.

No ganking huh?  Tell that to the Rook & TB squad I ran into yesterday.  TB warps in and freezes me, rook walks up and performs either a roll+slam or slam+roll.  Either way, my ass is toast.

Ganking is in the game and yes it requires that you purchase gear, which is fine I think.

I haven't played the beta myself but based on the pics and vids I've seen I think the maps really need much more complexity. What I've seen the maps are only few lanes where the creeps fight nothing more. The maps need like some ocbjects where you can avoid hits and skills with the fogg. (like dota has the trees, if you run close enough the fogg makes it harder to cast the skills and you can get away from a chasing enemy if you spin around some trees or something.

It's probablly because technical limitations made them unable to make proper Line-of-Sight Fog-of-War.

Innociv, this is not a mod...This is a full-blown game. Such a technical limitation is frankly, *not* an excuse :).

It somewhat is.  Might of required recoding lots of things.  If that's the gcase, imagine how much worse the game would be, minus the lack of LoS-FoW, if they had to spend time on that instead of other gameplay stuff. :/

But yes, the game should of just been delayed longer.

Mainly I just don't understand why the maps have to be so flat and geometric.  Certainly some more interesting things could have been done with Fog of War simply by having elevation / obstacles / buildings etc as others have said.

Being able to teleport using the minimap would be cool, but the thing is, what if you were trying to teleport to the ground that your minimap is covering? I think its pretty easy to just scroll wheel out and suddenly the whole arena is your minimap.

as for things that you miss from DotA... this isn't DotA. When talking about starcraft, I could say the thing I miss from Empire Earth is being able to advance my civlization. No one would ever expect that in Starcraft 2 you'd be able to advance your civilization, because its simply a different game.

Is Demigod missing ganking or DotA missing tele-ambush/flags?

Demigod was suppose to be dota at a 100% only in mythology style?

Hell, I guess many were looking forward to see a Giant Rock gang a half naked flower lady.

Please tell me you are kidding ... right? The only elements Demigod and DotA share are the fact they are both strategy games with RPG elements, and thats where the comparison ends.

:annoyed: It was a question to simply screw around with these people asking for Giant rocks ganging flower ladies.

Like "wasn't it suppose to be like Halo 3?" Ye I was kidding.

Very weak analogy.

I won't bother arguing the point, though, since apparently the mere mention of anything DotA related on these forums now brings out the "DEMIGOD IS NOT ANYTHING LIKE DOTA NOW GO AWAY TROLL" crowd, which unfortunately may even include the mods.

I agree that was a weak anology, but the point I was trying to make was that Demigod isn't supposed to be a DotA clone. It has some similarities, but it's meant to have differences. Just because some idea or concept is in DotA, doesn't mean that it is right for Demigod.

I agree, but I also think that it's not always wrong to draw comparisons between the two, since they are similar, whether people like it or not.  I think it's worthwhile to at least discuss whether or not the addition of some aspect of DotA (or any other game for that matter) would be beneficial to Demigod, even if the ultimate conclusion is that it would not be.  Open discussion is always better than immediate dismissal.

I do have to agree with that.
