So, as far as I know we haven't seen a replay system in Demigod, but I seem to recall that one is planned. When it's available, I'd really like to be able to pop up an overlay in the replay that shows a list of the "major events" in the game. These would include things like (but maybe not limited to):
- Demigod killed
- Demigod bought an item
- Demigod advanced to the next level
- Demigod assigned a skill point
- Flag captured
- New War Rank
- Citadel upgrade purchased
- (maybe) Building destroyed
It might even be a good idea if I could toggle categories on and off, now that I think about it. The events should be timestamped (e.g., with the number of seconds at which they occurred), and in an ideal world I'd be able to click on an event to jump to that point in the replay. I know that jumping to particular times can be tough to achieve if the replay system is based on re-running the simulation, so I'd settle for just being able to see the list, maybe with some sort of highlighting showing which events I've already seen. That should be reasonably straightforward to implement (although I realize it won't make the cutoff for the initial release).
The main reason I'm suggesting this is that it makes it a little easier to see what was "really" going on without constantly switching views and checking people's stats. It would make it a lot easier to see at a glance how the game played out chronologically, what strategy your opponent was using in terms of their items and skill choices, and how you could have played better or tried to counter it.
Also, what would be really cool would be if I could jump to this list / to the replay right from the defeat screen (or victory screen if I should be so lucky [e digicons][/e] ).
