Heh, maybe I was a little tired when I wrote that. No... I was really tired when I wrote that. Let me try again.
I`m thinking about a Pantheon mode of Light versus Dark where you are randomly assigned to either side per match - you do not choose one side or the other, you simply fight for whichever side you find yourself on in that match. An overall tally determining victory is not the factional Light and Dark tally... it is your own Demigod`s individual tally of Favour or Achievement points.
So in the match you may be fighting for a faction, but really you are fighting for yourself. Gunning for special accomplishments in-game might become more important to you, perhaps even at the expense of a little cooperation as you strive to boost your own standings.
In review this may be too much of a mere shade away from regular Pantheon play. Still, I`ll toss it out there.

A non-Pantheonic Free-For-All game actually sounds like fun too. Might remind me a little of a smash-up derby (!), with a map consisting of an arena disc, each Demigod on the outside edge with a non-capturable Gateway & Gold Mine assigned to them. The Gateway minions would send their spawn into the center to do battle with every other player. The center would have a single flag controlling a shop. Maybe there would be a generic Heal Stone placed every so often about the map edges. Demigods would naturally constantly struggle to control that central flag and rush to make any purchases before they lose their chance. Demigods would respawn at their Gateway, stepping through as if a minion. No defense structures, no Citadels. Definitely a "slay 'X' number of Demigods" scenario.
I imagine levelling up would be fast and furious in this.
