Single Player game seems sluggish.

Single Player game seems sluggish.

Didn't happen in the Beta

I just started a Single Player Tournament and am surprised at how laggy and sluggish the gameplay was.

When I was playing the Beta, everything was smooth at High Settings.

It felt as though that I had turned on FRAPs or a recording software.

Quoting Hollow Man, reply 23Aryanna and Renwold, your issue sounds like mine. Does the problem go away if you zoom in on your Demigod?  Zoom and move around to a different part of the map?  I've noticed this can help at times.

Also, does it happen in multiplayer?

Like I said, I think this happens when the AI calls get to be too much, it overloads the processing, and sucks the framerate down.

Zooming out doesn't make the problem go away. MP? I didn't even touch MP yet, because of all the issues I'm already having (getting the game to work properly). The only thing that helps is, like I said, put the /nosound option in. With the /nosound option I have absolutely no problem whatsoever (except that I don't hear any sound obviously, which is highly irritating). I run the whole match with 30-40 FPS and round and about 4-5 simspeed. Without /nosound, I start off with that, but some minutes in, the FPS drops to 2-3 and the simspeed to -1/-2.

That is the same as mine - out of interest what sound card are you using. I am using an Xfi Extremegamer sound card. Supreme Commander apparently had this issue as well :(

Actually, when I said to use zoom, zoom in and see if it helps the issue. Zooming out shows more stuff going on, which seems to make the issue worse.

And do me a favor and try multiplayer and see what that does. For me, I've never had the issue when playing MP. Granted I've only played a handful of games MP, but still...

I've had the same issue as Aryanna and Tals, that is to say, it's been completely remedied by removing audio (except for the lack of audio x.x )

Concerning the AI calls, I would agree that something's a bit off with the overall efficiency of the code based on what I've heard, and I have a few friends who all say that the game runs better in multiplayer. Like Aryanna, multiplayer is something I've been avoiding (except for a few lan games with aforementioned friends, since their simspeed is usually no better than mine xD ) at least until I get things running smoothly WITH sound.

I will say that using zoom has helped a little when I was really lagging with the audio, but I think that may be more wishful thinking on my part than actual results, since the framerate never stayed up for long.

Good luck, to everyone =P

Sadly, this problem happens to me too and I cannot find a way to fix it!  I've tried setting settings down to lowest, but it still gets the 10 second fits of super lag/fuzzy sound.  My system is fairly good, can run this game at highest with ease and runs far more demanding games.

Vista

Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.5Ghz each

Nvidia GEForce 8800GTM 256mb

4 GB RAM

I am glad I'm not the only one with this problem, but a fix really is needed.  Havn't dared to try multiplayer yet, due to the reportedly poor servers and this problem.
