Give Regulus a melee attack

Ok, so when you select Regulus, is lists his weakness as " Weak in melee combat".

That would be grand and all, IF he had a melee attack. As it stands Regulus deals the same amount of damage in melee range as he does from actual ranged combat (I'm not counting Snipe as it is a special attack).

When I say range I mean his normal auto attack that can be extended to have a very nice range buff through the talent tree.

Regulus also takes the same amount of damage, no matter what distance his enemy is attacking from (this normally isnt an issue since all other Demigods, sans Torchbearer, auto attacks from melee range)

So , is Regulus really at a disadvantage in melee combat? No he's not. I say, give him a melee attack that is substantially weaker than his bow shot when an enemy demigod closes the gap and gets within melee range. I think this small addition would bring a bit of balance by rewarding an agressive player against Regulus, but also add a much needed dimension to Regulus's play style by making sure you have an escape path, keeping range, and maybe giving a real use to mines as a defensive ability.

What do ya think?

His melee weakness is his ability to get pummeled. I'm not sure that adding minimum range to abilities would be a good thing.

He is weaker than alot of the melee charcters when it comes to armor, HP and dmg per shot.  Any weaker hits and he would be even more hit and run than he is now.

You should know that TB needs a melee attack too. He got a dagger or sword I dont know what but it seems worthless adding that on the design if he's not gonna use it or do anything with it.

its a sceptre...cause he is the son of a queen...and he controls elements via magic...through his sceptre...

I actually agree with this. He needs to be a lot weaker in melee combat.

End of Trigeminal's quote

Then they should reword it to say, "Takes greater damage from melee attacks" or something. Maybe it was just me, but I really didnt notice him dying any faster than UB/TB or even Oak when attacked by an auto attacking melee Demigod. Maybe they can take a look at their melee/range damage modifiers

Reg dies pretty quickly in melee as it is. His real survivability is his damage and range. He depends on either keeping away from enemies or simply killing them faster.

when they mean "weak in melee" they don't mean he does less damage. its not weak attacks they're referring to. its the fact that Regulus' primary means of blocking attacks is with his face. dude's got a glass jaw. if you can catch up to him and get to melee you'll pound him quickly before he can kill you.

It's a very interesting idea, which other games have done, I'm just not sure it'd really add to the game..

He's weak in melee combat because melee characters deal far more damage than him, he has very low defense, and he has NO escape mechanisms.

Melee combat does not require both partipants to be using melee weapons.  If a knight walks up to an archer and guts him like a fish, THAT IS MELEE COMBAT.

He doesn't need a melee attack. First of all, he's not a melee character. He's a squishy nuker. You need a melee teammate to compensate for his squishyness. You compensate for this by never letting your opponent get within range to be a threat, i.e. don't be stupid and turret fire. Get +speed items and use him the way he's supposed to be played. Also, he has two MELEE ranged attacks.

1) Mines

2) Ultimate Angel form.

if you can catch up to him and get to melee you'll pound him quickly before he can kill you.
End of quote

If you stay within his range and are half health, you = dead. If you're too slow and can't out-kite them, buy some freaking +HP/Armor

Learn how to play regulus.

The OP means for him to have a melee attack that is WEAKER than him using arrows point-blank.

We know what the OP means.  We're telling him he's misinterpreting the character's description.  And you're misinterpreting what we're telling him.

Was commenting at the other people saying that he needs a buff close-range. Otherwise, this idea might be too harsh of a nerf. He's so extremely squishy, and all he can do is run and kite, which completely eliminates his damage. I don't think any regulus can stand and turret fire unless they're significantly stronger than the melee character hitting them.
