40 minute to 1 hour games

This shouldn't be, but the few games that I've played all lasted for more than 30 minutes. Mostly, they are 40 minutes to 1 hour.

The developers said they want games to essentially not last longer than 30 minutes.

Does anyone else experience these long game times? Does anyone else have a problem with them? Does anyone have any proposed solutions?

Kill their towers and units quicker.

Mine usually last around an hour, but I'm really too busy most of the time to look at the clock. Honestly, does it matter?

i was going to say you'll get better and as you do you'll go faster, but i dont think thats too true

of course the game won't become dull as you learn, fights with demigods will still be intense and require adaption and thinking. players will learn how to manage time better, and what items work best.taht would make tee game seem faster, but if you are getting good, you should be dying less, which results in less gold, less gear, less damage(to enemy), so the games may keep on being long

still is it bad? the begining is frantic and takes a lot of learning and changing each game to beat enemy. and its fun

I played a LAN game (yes, I've only played 1 game against a real person so far). I was the Torchbearer and he was the Oak. To start with I killed him alot, but after a while it started going the other way around, because the Oak is just not able to die at level 20 when you're the Torchbearer, it's very hard at least. :)

We were done after 1 hour and a half of intense fights. It was good, but we were at each others Citadels alot, and the match should've been decided quicker. We both had full mob upgrades at the end for about 15 minutes (full damage and giants).

I think the match took so long because it was a 1v1, if it was just 2v2, it would be easier to kill the opponents Demigods since you then would chase a specific opponent.

1v1 and 2v2 takes longer

Some maps just have to to many towers, when it comes to entering enemy base, they whipe out the creeps easily and with enemies Demigod you are just forced out. Crucible is a good example. You have to walk a long line of towers before getting to their main which is also filled with towers and that Crystal near.

The problem is that it's too difficult for one side to gain overwhelming momentum, and games are simply interminable. What you're suggesting is not as easy as it sounds...

Yes. Because the developers intended and still intend for games to last for 1/2 to 1/3 of that time. Because I don't want to make DG a way of life. If I did, I'd be playing an MMO.

Well, the less Demigod you have the slower the game will be. You can also change settings to make the game quicker. I really don't see what you want the dev's to do. You can host games and set it up to be faster, I'm a big fan of options.

Personally I think this is a good sign, in a match of skilled players it's going to be a longer game.

This is usually a sign of people playing to make their demigods as powerfull as possible instead of playing to win.

Stop spending money on 5 artifacts and get Catapultosaurs from the citadel instead, after that you just have to walk along your reinforcements and you should have won within 10 minutes after that.

Exactly.  I occasionaly get games that go into the 40 minutes, but usually its over in the 20s.

Set spawn rate to high, normal reinforcments will be able to kill towers in a reasonable time if you leave them alone. It makes everyone level quicker as well overall making the game faster and less dependant on items and more dependant on who can take the towers out faster.

When you get better you'll be able to finish off the enemy much quicker. Most of my games lasts 20-30min.

I currently think the game times are perfect!

30mins to 1 hour is great!

I think as people get better the games may also get faster.

Haha I was being a smartass

And people...in Game Options there is Speed.  You can have Slow, Normal, Fast, Adjustable....so stop complaining because the feature you want is already there!!

I find games last WAY longer when I dont focus on winning and more on building my Demigod up. Which...is hard. Because its so fun to build them up!

IE: Looking toward that one item that will help a LOT but needing like 2k more gold and spending your time trying to kill Demigod's rather then push.

Try playing fortress.  Its like conquest only shorter.  You basically have to push 75% of the way into their base.  It plays a bit more interesting too, as there a number of key points you want to defend.

One of the big reasons games last so long is because it seems that the time estimation is based on people playing the game appropriately.  I don't mean to be flaming people, but... if you are...

A)  Pressuring towers early and often

B)  Spending gold on team wide upgrades... new creep units, more creep damage/armor, building upgrades

C)  Build your team with a good cohesion of characters (ex: Sedna for support/healing, UB for DG/tower, TB for creep/DG killing)

The listed points seem to be what I have discovered leads to very short games, my fastest 2v2 was ~10 minutes.  My friend and I (UB/Sedna) put constant pressure on enemy towers while one of us upgraded creeps/team upgrades and the other bought more equipment to keep ourself up and running.  The UB's ability to bring down towers and pressure DG's along with Sedna's ability to keep us moving forward and never have to reach brought us to victory fairly quickly.  I am definitely looking forward to see how competition may shape up in this game. :D

Pretty much all mine are less than 30 mins. It took me forever to actually hit level 20 in a match though, I agree with the others, if the game is lasting to long your to worried about just leveling your hero. Go for the win.

Play better.

This was the same with sins.. people used to say games like 4 hours when the good players always ended games in under 40 minutes. *shrugs*

Games always last longer with people who are new.

Oh, but set spawn rate to high. You get more fodder early game for destroying towers, and you'll get more goldand xp from more creeps to kill.

The game does play quite a bit better on high spawn rate.

My longest game was an hour and a half. Best hour and a half i ever had in a non-fps mp game. :)
