Change to Proxy Servers? Thank you, Stardock!

According to this post http://forums.demigodthegame.com/347703/page/1/#2151462 by Frogboy, they're changing to proxy servers for online connection next week instead of this P2P system.  Many praises in hopes for a smooth transition that'll make this game a 10/10 (connection issues are the only thing holding it back...oh, that and the damned -Favor issue/bug)

Hang in there.

I feel pretty confident that we'll have this pretty much nailed this upcoming week.

What we're going to do is rather than you guys having to connect to each other, we're going to set up proxy servers so that you connect to those servers and pass thorugh there.

Because of Impulse, we already have servers around the world so we can piggyback on those servers and it should introduce relatively little lag.

this hasnt been tested with this game yet so its hard to say what it will do for lag, if the proxy servers run anything like the lobby its gonna be hell, lets hope it goes smooth tho i really want a working game :S

I am now dancing in my mother's basement, cant wait this will be a great improvement to the game.

ALL THEY NEED NOW IS STORY MODE

this will be interesting; how many more complaints will the TS forum become inundated with?

where will these proxies be located? what will the latency be like to Australia?

FrogBoy, or any other discerning rep. from SD or GPG; we demand a Journal entry or at least a dirty great write up on this change.

it's a huge change and we all need to be kept in the loop on what to expect.

Great news, and Louieme, they don't really NEED a story mode right now.

Well, I guess its just a waiting game then. This reminds me of a waiting game i just played on the Pantheon (waiting for a game that is).

Well, since it says they are going to be using Impulses distribution servers I don't think performance will be an issue, and anyone who downloaded the game over the past week can attest to the speed of them.  The servers are blazingly fast and located all over the world.  But I guess the trick is getting to the game to correctly do this, since it was built from the ground up to not do this.

Think this aught solve some problems for people who have had issues with P2P multiplayer?

Because I was the OP of the thread cited...I'm taking credit for this :)

despite my complaining, i do wish P2P would have worked out.

.. holy shit really?  It was that easy to do?

Oh btw my experience has been much better lately.  Not as much menu lag in the menus and such.  But really that needs to be coded better to update my client isntantly with assumed thing and then give me a message if the server decides to say otehrwise.  Not have to wait on the server just to click a buttton with menus.

Good news, and this will most likely sort out all the connection issues imo. Although it will cost stardock $$$ in bandwidth costs as they will basically have to handle the bandwidth from all the games. I suspect this will be a shortish term measure while they work on a better P2P.

Hey stardock come on over here....

*KISS*

Now one little thing....could you PLEASE make it so that i can host without a 3third party tool (like GHost++ for wc3) a server with my dedicated root server? that would be SOO great, like srsly we could run tournaments with that tool and the esport community would REALY love that :)

ps.: remove the bot's from multyplayer X_X

Lets hope this fixes it all up. Then we can petition for rereviews of the game.
