Gamer's BOR and refund?

I remember seeing a post somewhere about gamer's bill of rights and a possible refund for "Demigod" within 10 days of purchase. Waited out the weekend to see if there will be another big patch, but to no avail. I can play some multiplayer games, I just assumed it was a close server farms instead of p2p. It is taking too long to join a simple game and rather annoying. Fun game if I can get one going, but once again; it is too much of a headache to simply play a product which has been fully paid for. Such as sitting on the "Connection" screen for few minutes because I can't connect to that ONE person.

How would I go about getting a refund?, digitally purchased as well.

Stardock didn't work too much this weekend-- but they have promised some hard work and hopefully the patch at the end of this week.

I thought they said the beggining of the week? :\

This is still beta pretty much..

I mean, yeah.  It's pretty fair to say they violated one of their own BGOR rules, that we have a right to a finished product, but you have to realize that they had a VERY unanticipated release environment, and things are always different when you're dealing with a population at large.

I have confidence in 'em.  They're good people.  I'm not going to beg you, but I will advise you to hold onto your shorts and stick it through.  This game has serious potential.

Tomorrow will be the first week since release.

As you know, the Gamers Bill of Rights clearly states that a user has the right to return a game that they cannot get to work on their computer regardless of the reasons.

So if you can't get Demigod to work acceptably for you, you can return it to us even if you bought it at the store (we'll eat the difference).

Just contact [email protected].

That said, I feel pretty confident that the remaining connectivity issues will be gone this week based on what GPG and NetDev are telling me.

I don't think i have seen such an unpolished game released in quite awhile. Most of the peoples arguements for lack of a campaign mode is that it's a MP focused game. The MP doesn't work either. Don't get me wrong i love this game, just hope they fix it.

You are blind then.  I'm sorry to attack you personally.  But this comment is so stupid.  Actiontrip . com does reviews for games and I trust what they have to say for the most part.  I can think of countless they have reviewed and are just horrid.  I'm sorry to say I purchased this game for whatever brain-fart reason.  I generally torrent first to "demo" the game.  And I can tell you the past 10-15 games i've torrented were complete garbage.  And were swiftly deleted off my machine.

Its sad to see companies attacking the torrent scene as I believe its one of the few things keeping developers honest.  I don't want to get into a huge debate about it but...  Most of the money these software companies are losing out on is from customers who would have purchased the software and.... have gotten screwed with complete garbage.  Every game I play (or have played) to the end... if its singleplayer only... or continue to play (if its multiplayer mostly)... I have purchased.  WC3, SC, Half-Life, HL2, WoW, Mass Effect, Bioshock... Bla bla bla...  All of these games (and many more) were finished... polished creations on release.  They continued to support, fix, and update as needed (mostly balance changes and exploit fixes).

Demigod runs pretty well when i'm playing with people i know have high end machines with stable connections.  ANY other situation is complete trash (which appears to be a lot of them).  WC3, SC, HL, HL2, CS, WoW... You name it... All these major multiplayer games run just fine for the majority of uses.  Demigod is the exact opposite.  It runs like crap for the majority of users.

LOL.

I couldn't play mass effect until they got around to patching the PC version.  Why?  Just because it didn't work.  WoW, on release, was horrible because of server issues.

As far as continued support and updates... this is a SD game, and they've already stated they've budgeted for a minimum of a year's worth of patches.  What more do you want on assurances that support will occur?

They ARE working on it.  you just have to wait.

Haha. That joke is on you.

WoW servers are so old, that half of EU cant play after 8pm cause of lag.

Mass Effect is only running if i use a gpu driver that is about 12 month old. Polished? Supported? They anounced a patch in February ... its still not out.

Bioshock? Did you forget the massive activation screw up they had in the first week of release?

Funny.

edit: some spelling

QFT.

Bioshock screwed widescreen users for a long time before they patched it. Widescreen users actually saw LESS of the screen than 4:3 users.

WoW was horrible at launch as well. I'd be willing to bet that over half of the people that play it today weren't there the first year or more with all of the bugs and problems. Polished my ( ! )

So I'd like to ask, what happened to this statement? Here it is, 2 weeks after this statement, and I know I've seen plenty of complaints still in games I've actually gotten to connect, or when playing games that actually are working. (Like DOTA ;))

I tried giving the game some time...and well, its just still not playable.  I spent like 10-15 mins waiting on games tonight...and kicked. Crashing at least seems to have stopped for me...but is what really ended that week considered how you want your game to look Frog?  (The patch at the end of that week caused straight out crashing if you got kicked/disconned)

Yeah, I haven't seen any progress at all personally since the second day after launch.  I play many games just fine, but connecting is still a lot more troublesome than it should be, and playing with a small group of friends in 3v3 or more ranges from difficult to impossible.  I keep hearing it will be fixed or improved but so far it hasn't, and its been 3 weeks since release.  I'm currently formatting my brothers pc in hopes it will help him connect to me and others in games (it works sometimes, but not most of the time).  sigh.

The big update we've been working on to add proxies and such didn't go quite as quick as initially hoped. We're now expecting to push it out tomorrow.

well there is your answer. You can play it just takes a little time. Hence no refund for you. Besides once they get the connection problem taking care of the game will get better.

But the problem is that the game was released with crashes and connection problems in the first place, am I right?

This is completely unacceptable, that bugs that have been known troughout the beta dont get fixed is a scandal, if stardock really cared about their customers they would have offerend everyone a refund.

They did offer everyone a refund....

Just email [email protected] and claim your refund, SD throw 75% refunds around like candy, I got mine issued the same day I contacted them.
