Do ground based AoE skills affect flying units
e.g. QoT's ground spikes vs. Oak's spirits or Rook's hammer slam vs angels ?

Can't speak for hammer slam, but QoTs AoEs both effect them. As do TBs Ring of Fire and Rain of Ice.
hmm that is a good question i dont know i dont think qots spikes do
i think oak aoe thing does
rooks hammer hard to say
oh well, I guess it would be too much of an advantage for Oak vs QoT.
UB's poison gasses effect them
Yes
As far as i have seen all spells effect ground units. Most notable TB's Ring of fire.
However, flying units don't seem to trigger mines (but I believe they take damage from them).

Hammer slam does, the rock roll/stun does not
but the hole aoeing air units would be a bit overkill espically if it is thorns spikes killing them
It's not like angels are actually needed, aoe or not they barely do anything cause they only attack once per pass. As far as i'm concerned catapauts cost 9400 after upping priests. Would prefer if they replaced angels with 3 more priests. Least priests are useful for healing you, angels just play around being uesless as they fly into towers after hitting something.
I will admit I thought angels served more of a purpose when they came after cata's and did more like 250 a hit.
Of course they used to get stuck at portals alot back then too, being swarmed by 8-10 of them when attacking might have made them look more powerful. ![]()
Sounded like fun ![]()
Problem is I don't really see how to improve them other then to increase damage. Flying is not much of an advantage when you're a melee unit that has to get close anyways giving up any aerial advantage. Maybe taking their cost down to 1800 also but adding the subtracted amount to catas and giants. (say add 600 to catas and 1200 to giants, so catas = 5400 and giants are 7200) Makes the angel + cata upgrade easier but makes giants harder to get to balance it out. Plus i'd like to see it made a bit easier to win a game through creeps rather then just being a better demi-god killer. I find outside of generals it's just not worth heavily investing in the citadel as you lack the endurance the generals have and in case of UB and reg your gear is pretty much your damage.
Just a thought...
