Get the AI out of multi-PLAYER games

Im getting extremely frustrated. Either Tournament or Skirimish, 90% of the games you get stuck with a retarded AI (its not even easy). Theres no way someone can win in a 3v1 with 2 AI-Demigods "RUSHING" towers (since its the only thing they seem to do), getting killed in the process, and once they return to life, they just go ahead and do the same.

I just rather play a 3 vs 1  and get the income of the other 2... not like its gonna make a difference, but at least I know players on the other side wont get a devastator 10 minutes into the game.

Either... DISABLE THE AI PLAYERS OF MULTIPLAYER GAMES or at least SET THEM IN HARD/NIGHTMARE mode.

AT LEAST allow me to select the game type I want... 1v1,  2v2 and so on.

Dont know how others feel about it... thats just me

Agreed. The AI is awful. If someone drops out, just make them dissapear and split their gold and experience between the remaining players on the team.

edit:

just remove them from the game--especially ladder type matches ---custom games can CHOOSE to keep them

t

the problem is not when someone drops, its when you start in a full AI game... its just retarded

better would be no AI than nightmare/hard, since they still dont have a chance against players... nightmare is only hard in sp because the bots in your team on nightmare are normal (as far as I know)

I agree. NO AI unless we actually CHOOSE to have them.  This game can not be competitive MP wise without a functioning and competitive atmosphere....

Right now... not so competitive... well maybe 1 out of 10 games....

OF course I'm referencing pantheon and skirmish... custom games are a different story but it should not be that way.  IMO

Speaking about (nearly) full AI game, 4v4 anyone http://pantheon.demigodthegame.com/game/330661/player/33278/

hm, that's just free points for one side, i dont think it's ment to be like this...

look at my record.... im actually allowed to make a custom 1v1 vs ai :S... no rank points but still counts as a win :S:S:S

That one, last evening, stretched-on for 98 minutes, at normal speed :

http://pantheon.demigodthegame.com/game/331449/player/11664/

It was originally a 4 v 4.

Everything looked great in the game-setup lobby : all 8 green pings -- nobody above 175 ms, and most below 100.

One player of my team8 dropped out during the loading of the game : we had to start with a normal A.I.

But the game lingered on as a stalemate. Then, another of my team8 dropped.

It was then 4 humans v 2 humans + 2 A.I. for the last 38 minutes : of course, we lost.

My remaining team8 complained on the all-player chat that I was not an "extraordinary" player, so he felt like he was playing with 3 comps. Not very nice. I was tempted to "rage-quit" to protest his lack of manners, but I replied nothing and stuck to the bitter end -- 98 minutes after the start of the match.

My team8 was not happy because I didn't seem to engage into frontline offense. I can't do that as a fragile TB, especially when I have to run around and plug defensive holes on the wide Leviathan map, because I'm stuck with 1 or 2 comp allies which do their own thing (that do not include smart defense). My frustrated team8 did not seem to perceive that I was working very hard to stop enemy-minion pushes (with catapults & Giants) towards our base, when I was not trying to recapture the left-side portal. I didn't stop working hard for 98 minutes, and the end-game stats proved that I did my fair share.

But when you have 1 (and eventuall 2) comp(s) on your team against 4 humans (three of them quite good), it's a lot of stress & toil, especially when the final outcome is fatally obvious.

I stuck to the bitter end, and I didn't quit. The 2 comp allies were incompetent, and my human ally was an ungrateful team8 who prefered exchanging sarcastic barbs & banter with the other team, on the chat -- sometimes at my expense.

They wanted to make a 5 v 5. I knew from the very start that even a 4 v 4 would be dicey, especially when playing with total strangers. The comp allies were mediocre, but my human allies lacked an elementary sense of fellowship. Some macho players expect that everyone on their team must act as a very offensive killing machine -- which is not my chosen style as a Frost TB (besides the fact that girls don't have a lot of testosterone).

Yes, I'm bitter : my evening more or less wasted in a 98-minute-long unfair match-up.

Sorceresssm don't go frost unless you know all you team-mates, else you will faill for pretty obvious reasons. Note that I play TB myself and would not go frost unless in custom games with friends. Today I had dominate-match (2v2) and my ally refused to (re-)cap flags, because apparently "best" tactics to win dominate is to kill demigods and rush their citadel which retunrs 500damage...gosh...

I agree!

I finally got to play an actual team match online, a 2on2, only to realize that my oponents were stupid bots... ridiculous...

I'd rather wait 10 minutes than play against or with AI. This is a multiplayer game, Stardock (just in case you hadnt noticed).

agreed, how can we have a good competition when some ppl win 20/27 matches against AI (see top10 atm)

Agree, i just left my 8th full ai game in a row... after clicking the pantheon icon and choosing UB. it searches for a game for about 1-2 minutes then im kicked straight into a full ai game, no player on either side except me. First thing i always do is hit TAB and check the pings, ping ZERO all the way, so naturally i hit menu and quit game, only to do the process again, pantheon... same RESULT EVERY TIME!!!  WTF!!!. I want to play MULTIPLAYER game not multi-AI game. it simply gives NO satisfaction beating a ai player, compared to a human. Id rather wait 10-15 minutes in lobby for a REAL player rather then get thrown into these nonsense games...

Oh one more thing, i upgraded to the beta version earlier, maybe thats why?

I agree.  From the dev video it became clear that somehow the devs got the very bad idea in their head that AI bots should be in multiplayer games in order to pander to newbies.  But that idea is ridiculous and needs to be flushed down the toilet immediately.  Bots being in the game isn't going to help newbies nor anyone.  If newbies wanna fight bots, they have 'singleplayer.' Heck, that's all there is to singleplayer anyways so they might as well use it for the only purpose it has.  But even if they don't that's still no excuse to ruin multiplayer by putting AI bots in it.  Get rid of them under all circumstances in multiplayer, period.

Let me just say that I personally prefer playing against AIs rather than people, for several reasons, but I agree completely with the OP, nontheless. This is one of those classic "What the hell were they thinking?!" -moments. Singleplayer is for singleplayers, and Multiplayer is for multiplayers.

I remember playing Quake Wars ages ago, and that in the earliest version(s), when you looked at the server list, there would be no indication as to which ones of the players on the servers in question were human, and who were AIs. I remember this aggrevating me immensely at the time. True, I usually stuck to playing against bots offline, but the few times I ventured online, it was for the sole purpose of trying to play with other people! If I wanted to play bots, I wouldn't have left the Singleplayer menu in the first place!

And if one decides to do what the devs have done here, after all, it is an abslute must to make the AI players competent! It should absolutely not, under any circumstance default to Easy. That's almost hilariously stupid.

Just had another game that was ruined by a bot. We started a 3on3, but one player dropped right at the beginning. The game was pretty close anyway, but the AI fucked it up. It is so easy to kill the AI and get gold for it, especially in the early game when you can really do a lot with that money. Admittedly the game was still fun, because we managed to be competitive despite fighting a losing battle and everyone was nice, good atmosphere - but it's so frustrating to lose a game knowing you didnt have a chance in the first place due to the retarded AI.

The beta patch seems to have fixed some of the connection problems (yay, good job!). But now that I can actually play Multiplayer it's still a bad experience because of all the bots... :(

Just steal it from DotA: No AI takeover, instead remove the hero and split the gold!

Perhaps they could also just adjust the AI to be more helpful to the player? It could even be as simple as "stay within range of the a human player at all times"? Or even just "run away of less that 70% health".

Get AI out of multiplayer.  It has NO place whatsoever to take over for humans.

Maybe if the AI weren't so dense.  They will run into 2v1 situations, into towers, pursue people with more health than them, or more often simply STAND AROUND DOING NOTHING.

This is unacceptable when you are trying to actually win.

or set the  ai thatg joins to nightmare or hard so they might actually do something

I'm really pissed off about AI bots being in multiplayer this is a huge letdown. I was just in a never ending match for 2+ hours finally i figure out how to check pings and see its bots. I just want to play with other people not bots

It seems almost every Pantheon game I've played has had AI in it. Sometimes me vs 3 AI. That's not what I clicked the multiplayer button for! It would be good if it was more apparent when players have been replaced by AIs so that if you want to leave you can. If a player leaves a match IMO there should be the option to end the match there and then and calculate the winning side based on the scores or progress to the objective so far.
