A mod for Entrenchment v1.05

This is the official thread for the Sins of the 13th Tribe mod.

Please note that it only works for Entrenchment v1.05

This is a total conversion mod, so the TEC, Advent, and Vasari are no longer playable

The Colonials and Cylons are now playable races

Known Bugs:

  • Some ships do not have names or are improperly named
  • Colonials still glow occasionally

v0.96 Changes

  • Entrenchment v1.05 compatability
  • Fixed String not found errors for the Galactica's colonize ability and the Worldstar's extra squadrons ability
  • Temporarily removed the custom static defense structures, so there will not be any more bug reports about the meshes reverting to the unmodded forms
  • The Cloud 9 is now correctly called the Cloud 9
  • New weapon sound effects for the Galactica+Mercury

I can't seem to get this working, I followed the guide perfectly.  When I go into Sins I enable the following mods

Gameinfo

Mesh

Particle

Pipeline effect

Sound

String

Texture Animations

Textures

I don't know if it is suppose to show like this or not, any help would be appreciated.

Put all of those folders into another folder called "Sins of the 13th Tribe" or something like that. Then enable that folder, and it should work.

Seriously, stop asking for that. Look back like 2 pages and you'll see why I can't do that. Just use Harpo's updater. It really isn't that hard.

Okay, I'm ten percent into the download of 0.8 and a message pops up and says that the save file was not found and it canceled the download. I was just opening the thing with the default a.k.a WinRar. Am I doing something wrong or do I need the internet to be even faster than it already is?

I don't know. It's probably something wrong with FileDropper, or they removed it or something. All I can suggest is to try again in a couple hours. If other people have the same problem, then it's Filedropper. If it's just you, then it might be something on your end.

Edit: Fixed it.

Few things I've noticed though - most of the skins seem to be duplicated - like a mirror image. So any names on the Battlestars, sucha s Galactica, are mirrored on the otherside (i.e. backwards).

Can anyone tell me what file and line i need to edit to alter the starting command points, cause the colonials only getting 1 and the cylons getting 4 is a little un balanced.

lol its not really that unbalanced 1 battlestar could take 2 with luck 3 baseships (till you get the research done) they have far more hitpoints and higher armour value

Its supposed to be that way.  If you level a Galactica up to a level 6, and square against a level 6 basestar...  the basestar doesn't stand a chance.  He did that purposefully.  If anything, I think the cylons are a tad underpowered, but if you use the caps right, it turns out okay.  I think the balance is just fine as it is.

Hello, I installed everything using the modupdater and all that. I got it working. However, the first time I brought out the battlestar galactica and clicked on the special abilities button, i get a mini dump. Then I made a new game and tried with the pegasus...that was okay no minidump. So i made a new game again and tried the battlestar galactica again...this time i didn't get a mini dump when i clicked on the special abilities. It was like 3 minutes later that i got a mini dump.

Anyone know the cause of this cuz  i wanna play with bsg.

By the way if i have other mods in the mods-entrenchment v.1041 folder and i manifest maker the whole folder (only way i got this mod to work was manifesting the whole folder), will the other mods still work?

dwono the problem is the 9 new entity files that before 1.04 were parts of the standard files, the new files were brout in as bugfixes for sins/entrenchment

the fix is to run my manifest maker on EACH of the mods that are in your mods-entrenchment v1.041 folder building new brush and entity manifests

Ah ok Harpo, so i redid it again. This time in the manifest maker I clicked on the Sins of the 13th Tribe folder so its highlighted. But I think my problem is that I don't know what to click for the first option in the manifest maker. For the second option, i have mods, sins, and expansion checked. Anyway after I did that, when I go to enable mod, and click on apply changes, i get a mini dump.

In the manifest maker for the first option:

1. I clicked them all (still get a mini dump on apply changes)

2. Just brushes and entity (still a get a mini dump on apply changes)

3. Just entity (mini dump as well)

Any ideas on what im doing wrong?

dwono had you placed the mod into the mods-entrenchment v1.03 folder and then run the mod updater to update the mods from the 1.03 folder to 1.041?

in the manifest maker did you doubleclick on the sins of the 13th tribe folder and see the gameinfo folder under it?

the essential manifest to rebuild is the entity, and yes you need mod,entrenchment AND sins ticked.

Thanks Harpo, i got it to work. I reinstalled everything and did the steps again. That seemed to have solved it for me. No more BSG mini dumps. For the manifest maker, I only clicked on entity files.

By the way, I didn't have any mods installed other than 13th tribe when i did the manifest maker. If i drop another mod in the mod thats already for 1.041 in the entrenchment folder, do i have to use the manifest maker again?

only if you need to update the mod to 1.041, as all 1.041 mods ALREADY have the correct files in the entity.manifest

Good news! I got my laptop back from HP today, and I just finished installing Windows 7! I still have a lot of stuff to reinstall from when I wiped my harddrive in a vain attempt to solve my problem, though, so don't expect an update for the next couple days. But within a week or so.

At long last! After doing some reconfiguration to my computer, I finally got 0.8 and 0.81 downloaded. I've already copied the proper files for the patch, and like a post a little while ago, when I enable the mod i get a minidump. Now, could someone tell me where to download the mod updater? I had already downloaded the manifest maker but I cant seem to find the mod updater. Is it posted as a different name or something?

 

Kyogre, if you don't mind me asking, what was wrong with your laptop? My brother has a desktop and he tried to fix a problem by wiping his harddrive but it didn't work. Just thought that maybe he has the same problem you have.

Okay, scratch that last post because I found the updater. However, when I try to copy the files from 1.03 into 1.043, it says "wrong file, no conversion instructions available. KingSpartan or kyogre, could you tell me what i'm doing wrong?

kirbster329 did you use the mod updater from either 1.181 or 1.181a archive from the mod updater thread?

also you should place the mod in the version folder that the mod is for ie mods-entrenchment v1.03, then run the mod updater (which updates the entity files ONLY but DOES copy all other files and folder structure),  then run the manifest maker on the 1.041 mod folder, selecting entity,mod,entrenchment AND sins. then the mod will run in 1.041, but still have the balance from the 1.03 files

Kyogre, if you don't mind me asking, what was wrong with your laptop? My brother has a desktop and he tried to fix a problem by wiping his harddrive but it didn't work. Just thought that maybe he has the same problem you have.

The graphics card was fried. I didn't know that when the problem first started, so I tried restoring it to factory conditions (basically wiping everything on it) but it obviously didn't work. Many calls to tech support and a trip to GeekSquad finally confirmed that the graphics card was basically dead. So it had to be replaced. Last week I sent it to HP to get it repaired, and I got it back yesterday.

Unfortunately, they replaced it with the same, defective line of GPU (Nvidia GeForce 8600). So in about a year or so I can probably expect my laptop to die again, but for now it is working.
