There is absolutely nothing wrong with full fire TB. You just need to understand your role as damage and do as much of it as you can while your team mates provide the stunlocks, heals, shields, whatever.

I personally hate Ice torch bearer, because you need to be level 15 before you get anywhere NEAR decent damage. And by then a game could be over. All fire TB needs is level 7 to start hurting things severely.

IMO, QoT main problem is the "switching". If not for the switching, I would play QoT most the time. I think if they, just, only, lowered her switch time, that's all they'd need to make her more viable in most all game types. Not that TB is UP, but lowering his switch time could'nt hurt either.

My friend that does Lan with me occationally started with Reg (for some reason all noobs love him), then did TB, now he loves, and will most likely stick with Oak. He loves Oak (especially since he begs me to play Sedna to heal him). It fits his playstyle. Like Warlok above, find a DG or two that fits your playstyle, and train/buff/practice.

I played with you Shark7 in one game. I wasn't really paying much attention to how you played as Oak but I felt you did ok. I was only raging on the Regulus player who kept charging into the other 3 demigods with 200 hp and never going above 2.5k total hp.

The best way I got learning experience was with other e-friends I know online and we play together occasionally in private games as we were all new. Eventually I started playing some public games and just hanged around the forums to pick up tips.

Thanks for the advice everyone. This player community seems more mature than some games I've played in the past. When posting I half expected everyone to tell me to QQ more and l2play. So I would like to thank everyone for the constructive discussion. I think part of my problem is I try to change my demigod based on what the other team is playing in order to be more effective based on their team loadout. Also, a lot of times if I want to just play rook then everyone else on my team wants to play rook also. So I'm going to try to play the same demigod until I am good with that one character before switching.

Yea I've been dealing with random crashes. Tried everything and the game still locks up every now and then in Vista. It always seems to happen when I am actually doing good. I've sent off my crash reports with the demigod report tool. I've started playing it on my Windows 7 partition and so far so good. Does anyone else still have problems with lockups/crashes? There's a pretty big fix due out soon (not this week, but quite possibly next) that will solve one of the more fairly common crashes (lua decompression). I think the vast majority of us experience crashes every now and then instead of frequently. Glad to hear windows 7 is working a little better for you.

Changing your character based on what the other team is using is generally a smart tactic, but as you are still very new, I really wouldn't recommend that until you get more experience with more characters. You might be a heck of alot better with one character instead of the one you might choose to try to counter the other team. So, for now, just pick whoever you think you do your best with. Add me as a friend and I'll team up with you and give you some pointers.

Have you tried playing games with people just against AI? That was helpful for me when I was learning the game. It's generally best if you can host a game, call it COMP STOMP, get 1 or 2 people to join in, and pay attention to how they are playing. Do the die alot, when do they choose to run, what are they focussed on, etc.

really not - some good thoughts in this thread.

I would start with Regulus and UB as your "primer" DGs. The skill floor for them is lower than for other DGs, imo, as long as you can learn to escape death

From there look at Minion Erebus

After a few games with each of these guys you should have a feel for the possibilities of play - ranged, melee, and minion, then you can branch out to some of the more complicated builds - probably the hardest DG to play well is QoT - if you can play her effectively then you got it made

I would like to give advice to you new players also.

First try your utmost not to die, this gives the enemy $$$ and each death speeds up the game loss.

Secondly go for the armor with + xx per second health, same with hats for MANA. The % per second ones are not as good.

Next learn which stuns do what and how.

For example the Unclean beast stun is very easy to use, instant. Verses an Erebus stun which takes a second and a bit to "charge". The UB will easily interrupt an Erebus stun every time if you quick about it.

The Rook stun is great, stuns multiple DG but you can easily miss.

The Sedna "stun" is not stunning players really, but stops them using their ability, EG interupt the Erebus stun.

Once you learn all the stuns and how to counter, use them to your ability you will tend to die a LOT less, the rest of the game is just picking favor items that play to your play-style. And some quick thinking.
