DG tourny!! - MAP UPDATE!

This is really, really awesome. Definately gunna play in it - thanks lagwar.

However...2v2 crucible? Are you joking. Such a well organised tournament with actual cash prize money is gunna be decided in best of 3 on crucible?

No.1 - Its a shit map - most people will agree with this.
No.2 - Very unbalanced - Rook towers own it, Erebus's batswarm can save him a looot of time.
No.3 - Very Boring - One, long, lane....reinforcements mean little in this map....Its very boring to play on.
No.4 - Games take a very long time - They seriously take a long time. Each match will probably take anywhere between 35 mins - 1hour+

Please guys, dont let Crucible be the 2v2 map

Im near 100% everyone would prefer another map such as Cataract.

However the Tournament doesnt revolve around me - What does everyone else think?

I prefer 4 v 4 on Crucible weekend long games are more fun

I love the tournament idea!  If he's arranging it, he can run it how he likes. :)  My main problem that is keeping me from participating is the set match times - I would much rather have a less punishing method for forming and running games.

which map(s)?

Crucible has major issues, most of which were already covered, but just for good measure:

1. The majority of games is spent either babysitting your flags away from the creep lane because of teleport issues or watching the map to teleport every single time an opposing general leaves the screen for a moment
2. Creep upgrades are a liability because there's no side lanes to push while they farm the front
3. A single creep lane is incredibly simplistic and shifts game balance
4. The walk home to the crystal is just outright annoying
5. Early game tower kills prevent archer tower and fort spawns. It's a pointless way to further reduce the likelihood of comebacks

I just played an hour long crucible game and now feel the need to punch myself repeatedly in the head... the sheer excitement of pro games on this map.    I don't know if I can stomach a tournament playing this map over and over.  So boring. 

No one will join if you choose Crucible, one of the worst maps ever. It's just as bad as Exile.

Sarcophogus - Thanks for putting this together.  Though I'm not a huge fan of crucible, I'm really happy to see some tournaments starting up.  Please post here if a map change occurs.  Thanks!

urgh...I hate Exile...and Crucible

The majority among the currently registered players votes for the change to cataract.  I've heard a few suggestions for Prison, but Cataract will be the new map.

Due to this change, an additional 48 hours will be given so that any teams that have not registered have the chance.

Registration will now close Friday @ midnight.  The tournament will start next week, "not monday" is all i can say until i have all the registrations in hand.

I'm hoping that this will encourage more registrants, i know that there is a small crowd following the posts, if you could mention the tournament to players that you see in game i would really appreciate it.   If the tournament doesnt draw enough interest &/or readers to Lagwar, we wont be able to host another one!!  I know some people are waiting for the 3v3, but that one cant happen without a bit of community help!!

On a related note I just finished an hour long game on exile and I am relieved we won't be playing on that abomination.

Just to clarifiy - is there only a 2v2 tournament scheduled then?  No 3v3? 

It's a fun casual map but an insanely bad competitive map. The whole base design needs to be redone, from uncappable portals to crystals healing in lanes to there being an artifact shop there.

To each his own.  :)  Pro games on crucible are almost always 1 + hour games (if not, then I'd stongly argue that you aren't playing a pro game).  That's ok, but its really a battle of inches for a long time (read: often boring).  I think the last game I played, we had giants for about 30-40minutes.

 @ your earlier question, yes. Only the 2v2 is currently scheduled.  If this is successful then we will have an easier time getting sponsors for a 3v3 tournament, if this is not successful, then sponsors are hard to get, and that results in tournaments being hard to get.   My initial enthusiasm about the recovery of Demigod after the initial launch trouble led me to thinking that securing sponsors would be a cake walk.  This was not the case.

anyway!  Going to start another thread to hopefully connect some people to get a few more teams in, we're currently below what i had expected for registration. please pimp the tourny among your friends/other players!

The only reason why the game ended at all was because eventaully I got ashkandor, a bulwark of the ages, and level 20 and the combined mitigation of my armor, acclimation, and the bulwark along with my 10k hp allowed me to just autoattack the citadel to death while they wailed on me.

It was incredibly tedious being forced to travel halfway across the map to heal up over and over again while they sidestipped a few paces to to completely recharge while farming massive gold and exp off of my nearly fully upgraded double valor giant waves with ease.

I'd be fine with it if the crytsal were just swapped with the portals.
