Absolutely amazing mod. I played this at a friends house and it was just amazing. So amazing in fact that I bought SOASE during the steam christmas sale. Problem is I didn't really understand all the versions so I just bought the new one (Rebellion). Problem is, from reading these forums it seems this mod is not for Rebellion. Is this something that will eventually be done?
Eventually, definitely. Not right now though, not while they need to get a final Diplomacy release out.
ronux, you could track down a copy of trinity(which is vanilla,entrenchment AND diplomacy all in ONE bundle) which is 19.99 from stardock(https://www.sinsofasolarempire.com/store?results=true)(who are the publisher and part of the development team for sins) near the bottom of the page,

An internal (mod team only) alpha build for Rebellion exists. However from what i heard it is riddled with problems. I dont have it. I cant download it, because my internet is absolute crap, and it cuts off at 30 megs. Otherwise i could look at the build, and see what it's problems are.
Sorry you bought rebellion only to find out SoA2 ain't ready for it yet. In the future you should check which game its for first. In the mean time enjoy rebellion. The game in itself is pretty good.
The problems are the UI, which you stated you have no clue how I did it,

You know Major, you can download pieces at a time with SVN? logon the account thru a web browser and start selecting files.

If you're having connection drop outs during the download of a large file try Cygwin's wget utility, which is a command-line HTTP client. It supports range-requests (-c option) where it uses the size of a partial file as the start offset for subsequent downloads.
$ wget -c http://some/thing.zip
20% [=====> ]
$ wget -c http://some/thing.zip
35% [+++++===> ]
$ wget -c http://some/thing.zip
48% [++++++++==> ]
... repeat until 100% ...
The '='s indicate what's been downloaded in the current transfer, the '+'s indicate start offset.
I FINALLY got the dev build for rebellion.... Wow what a mess! I guess i better learn how to do UI.

Wonderful! I hadn't played Sins in years, but this mod has rekindled my interest. You have kept the gameplay very similar to the original, but with enough "trek" changes to make it nearly perfect.
I am quite sure you already have your plans for the Rebellion transfer, but I always find input helpful! I have some ideas about the Titan vessels for the different factions, perhaps you will allow me to share?
Titan ship ideas:
1. Borg--what's another big cube amongst friends?
2. Klingon--perhaps Worf's large command ship (Neg'var-ish) from the mirror universe. The new emperor would perhaps like the mega maniacal bend of such a ship.
3. Dominion--The ship scales were so varied is DS9 for the Dominion, you can make one of their battleships even bigger and still have canon.
4. Romulan--probably the Reman Warbird, but this is very un-trekish. Perhaps some FASA inspired design...
5. The Federation is hardest. They certainly wouldn't build an uber ship. I would suggest the actual NCC-1701-E as the Titan, with some improved stats, but perhaps with a permanent ability called "Federation Flagship". This ability would grant large offensive, defense, and cooldown bonuses to all nearby units. One could recreate the Battle of Sector 001 in which as soon as the Enterprise shows up, things go very well for the Federation.

Completely agree on this mod renewing my interest in Star Trek. I think fist said awhile back that there would be no Titans for Rebellion. I think this is probably a good decision. It would conflict too much with canon (mod team has said they are interested in maintaining canon) and also they already have much to do on porting over from Diplomacy and getting the UI working.
What new planet types will be included in Diplomacy/Rebellion?

As per the UI work, there should not be too much todo, they mostly added a new overlay , a few new window textures " the new rebel loyalist selection window" other than that just changes within the window files themselves. Should not be too much work , just very time consuming .

Indeed it will be time consuming. Ill have to go over every window, and brush file anyway to incorporate rebellion TSOP into it, and finally get rid of all the TGA textures. Rebellion pretty much set up the UI to be truly faction specific. However SoA 2's UI take it one step beyond. I just have to copy what is in the mods brush files into rebellions brush files.
We need romulan, klingon, dominion. and borg artwork for their UI's done.
I really don't get your obsession with TGA files. I put probably way more than a 1000 hours of work into this mod and you just want to make a lot of what I did look like crap. Keep the large images DDS, like I did, and all the buttons and icons stay TGA. After all the optimizing I did we were just running over 1.2 and now I have added a few things before the Diplomacy release and will be testing.
The models were really bad, why not optimize them.
I totally rebuilt the borg models, optimized and did proper tangents on, Bren, Card, Dom, and some fed. Rebuilt a pile of fed models that causes errors on exploding. All the ROM and KLI still need to be done.
EDIT: Told you a few times now, I already did go thru all the Reb brushes. Just need the .window files done, I would need to see the screen as I work or they would have been done long ago.

Sure J, I was just not interested in paying more that 10 bucks on renting a game that can be taken from me at any time for any reason. Shouldn't take me long at all to do the UI.
Then ill just worry about artwork then. I got some plans for the other factions if you set up the UI like you did for Diplomacy.
I'm not "totally" against TGA. My OCD is about this is standardizing everything in one format. Plus for TSOP converting to DDS did help alot. However if converting will screw it up as bad as you say then ill leave it alone.
The ship textures do need work. Been saying this for years. Just haven't got around to doing something about it yet.
What was causing the crash on explode for the meshes?
The error is caused by lines in the model that were not polys, the explosion attaches to one of the lines it spits the error. And when a lot of models have it, trying to run test games is a real nightmare.
Have to raycast select all the polys and hide them, get a section done like above and delete the lines, unhide and weld everything where the lines were to get proper tangent lighting.
The Models/Master XSIs still has your original models if out want to test one. The Galaxy is this one, spawn 3 or 4 and scuttle, watch the errors pop up. Its not every time, just enough times to make finding what was causing the errors another nightmare. I have to spawn 4-5 of every model and scuttle, see if it errors, but a least I found what was causing it.
I have not seen that error in a while now so I may have gotten all of them, but I doubt it. Still need most fed, all kli and rom to be optimized and tangents, I check them as I go by hiding a section of polys and checking for these cursed lines.
BTW, I just finished all the shields. And some other secret goodies.
Hello, great mod, as a fan of Star Trek i really enjoy it and i cant wait for new version. I just have one issue. That last Klingon ability that spawns whole rebel fleets in all my sectors is very annoying and overpowered. I have to build and upgrade a starbase in each sector to counter this, which takes huge amounts of resources.
Also if i may, i have an idea for a Federation titan: Enterprise-J, shown very briefly in one of the Enterprise episodes. I know its from future but i think it would fit nicely for a fed titan. http://www.utopiaplanitia.info/ships/1701j/entjbig.jpg
