you guys should make transwarp hubs a planet type (like a wormhole)

is there a way to make it connect to more than one point though?

We have plans for that. actually it will be a starbase upgrade for the borg only. Fits nicely within the lore. As the unicomplex is the only strucure that can build it

OK, this is a cool update!  I only spottted one more small bug so far... when playing as the Borg (I don't know about the other races), the button at the top of the HUD to go to the research tree is missing.  It'll glow when your researching something, but just looks like a glowing black rectangle where the button should be. But if you click where it should be you'lll still get to the research tree, so you can still play the game.

Just thought you should know..

Did you build a research station. Because they will be blacked out till you do.

Yes, I had a military research station and was researching, that's how I could see the spot where it's supposed to be was glowing.  But the button itself didn't appear when I built the station.

ok nps. We got it fixed now then b/c atm we cant replicate the issue. The window files were altered in a attempt to add all the races pics to the player pics setup window. Might have accidentaly did that . None the less we have corrected the issue. We more than likely will be doing a patch to correct the issue.

I keep having a problem trying to dl the Entrenchment version of the mod on the main post it says connect keeps timing out and resets.

Can someone give me some help?

I'm having the same issues since this was first posted to the .  Gets to 1 sec left and freezes.  Tried it on 2 computers and both IE and Firefox....

Of course right when I log into these forums and start typing it the mirror Harpo posted worked.  That 10 minutes of 1 sec left is sneaky sneaky!

If you like, I will get your 6 races in the Player Setup window. Its a lot of work though and will take a little time because your UI is completely redone and I can't use any of my work. Mine is tested and runs perfectly.

Having just been playing through, I noticed that you've removed the Federation's only real defence against the Borg - the previous version of the Deliverance Engine. That was the only way to stop the Borg from completely owning them.

hmmm... have i missed an update or something? i downloaded the mod lsat week and played it/ just checked here and says entrentchment mod is 0.4.4e..... yet the one i have enabled is 0.4.5e??? lol

Ok, another little update from me.

The Borg have gone from being a nice strength - not powerful to the point of pointlessness, not weak to the point of stupidity - to a stage where they're just ridiculously overpowered. In my current game, they assimilated 3 capital ships, 2 Phaser Platforms and a fully upgraded, fully defended starbase.

There's no point playing against them when they're like that - they jsut suck the fun out of it.

At least reduce the assimilation of Starbases and Capital ships to a level 6 ability.

Yeah, frigging starbases wont right themselves...  I haven't come up with a way to negate the effect that doesn't burn an ability slot on the starbases or remove them from the target list entirely.

OK, my world is normally pretty haunted so odd things here and there don't normally bother me, but this is really creeping me out... Day before yesterday I posted I can't change my player name... you guys said cool we'll fix it. But today, just 5 minuts ago, it worked!  HOW???  I didn't download any patch or update from anyone... I'm not on the Mod team... so I'm thinking I have a haunted version?  You guys made the AI so good it's self correcting???  8C    I am tickled green I can change my name to the Collective... but I am really bewildered how I'm able to do it today and not 2 days ago.

So anyway, I don't know about the Borg as an opponent being overpowered, I haven't played against them yet... been too busy last couple days to get more than 15 minutes into a game.  But I have the afternoon off, so I'm gonna see how everyone does against the Borg.  I found the "Star Trek" map you guys included in the Mod.  6 systems and players... perfect... so it's all 5 races against me as the Borg, 5 vs 1, teams locked, all set to unfair economist, which I think makes for the best opponents because if you give them time to get established they will have the resources to rebuild and resupply large fleets... which makes for a better fight.

I'm curious to see how you guys have redone this AI... will the seperate races be more coordinated in their attacks???  Will I have a chance to get myself established before they strike?  This is going to be an interesting game.

The button placing and the graphic aren't properly aligned, so there is a spot where it works.

The AI isn't redone, the side is redone to work better with the AI.  Rewriting AI is something I could eventually do with a lot of time, but I'd have to crack the game first, a slightly illegal thing.

 

There are certain really retarded things Sins just wont do.  Most of the Borg problems centered around income.

 

The AI has no grasp of it's economic status, absolutely none.  It doesn't not set goals to achieve before spending down.  It does not take income into account when increasing fleet points.  It builds research stations regardless of a total inability to afford the research they unlock.

 

The easiest way to see just how retarded the AI is with money is to hop in the dev.exe, set yourself to ai controlled, and watch the show unfold.  It wont trade resources even when it has a stockpile of one in the thousands.  It wont save up for a more expensive capital ship.  It wont retain the resources necessary to actually establish the starbase it just queued up for construction.

 

The old Borg AI was crippled because despite research stations being cripplingly expensive, it would still build them just as if they weren't.  It would unlock new fleet upgrades, researching like crazy up the tree as it sat there with no army.  It would build unicomplex modules only to have them sit in perpetuity as they waited for money to pool high enough to finish their construction ability.  The end result was a side with no ships, but loads of research.

 

I locked it down from doing such stupidity by removing the problems.  Research being expensive cripples the side, so I made the stations take up 12 logistic slots, necessitating expansion to match their spending on it.  To avoid never seeing a Cube, I dropped the ship unlocks down to the first few levels and made research of ability and stat upgrades their primary expansion in power.  All of the starbase construction abilities are cheap enough for the bleeding AI to actually use them.
