2 vs 2 tournament

2 vs 2 tournament

Hey, Im wondering if some of you would be interrested in a 2 vs 2 tournament. It would be played on either Crucible, Prison or Cataract tell me which one you think fits the best :D Another rule I think should be that only ONE tier 1 demigod is allowed in a team (erebus, oak, ub, rook). This will make people use the lesser played demigods aswell.

Another rule (Cowbuttzex's rule): The second demigod in your team will have to be either Reg, Tb or DA

You want to join but dont have a partner? Here is people to play with.

-Passfail

-brandon_varn

-prozombe

-xXxXxAchillesTGxXxXx

-Maxsteel32

-Zen_God

-synnworld

-SmokingBalrog

-awuffleablehedgie (maybe)

-Maccilia

FINISHED TEAMS

Cowbuttzex and Teseer

Mithrandar and MCshane/renz0kuken/GM-Ninki

Shred_demon and an unknown

awuffleablehedgie and thudercles (maybe)

pacov and trousersnake

Are you interrested?

If so you can reply here and tell me your team.

How many of the GMs want to play? I think I left MCshane out.. :|

About the map I think Cataract suits this one the best dont you think so too?

And about skipping the tier 1 demigods..... hmm... I really like the rules we have now. Im gonna play reg and is looking for an oak or erebus as a teammate:)

Edit: btw, pacov are you interested in playing aswell? Ive seen you writing here somewhere:)

Can you have 2 tier 2 dgs or MUST you have a tier 1?

I thought that the reg, da or tb was a must and the Tier 1 was a choice of yours. Having two tier 2 demigods is fine I suppose.

Another issue is demigod selection. Do we have to use the same demigod choices every game?

Do we have every game between 2 teams be "Best out of Three" where Forces of Light has to ready-up first, then each time they switch?

Ok - so to cover the current rules for the 2-man tournament regarding Demigod selection:

  • Exactly 1 player on the team MUST choose either Reg, DA, or TB.
  • The 2nd player may choose any Demigod but cannot select the same Demigod as his teammate

And regarding what is still being discussed - I think this should be best 2 out of 3 games.  And it is Demigod - we should decide in advance how crashes should be handled.

Regarding the map - cataract seems most appropriate along with default settings.  Though the AI should be set to very high HP and low or very low xp/gold.

Yes best 2 out of 3 suits the best. And you bring up a very good point, the crashes. Im not sure about having disconnects allowed. I bet someone would use this too ''fake crash'' when he thinks hes about to loose. If we play best 2 out of 3 games that means you still have a chance of victory.

We could also simply rematch if someone would crash. That takes that everyone trust that nobody would exploit this.

the crashes

Yeah - the last dg tournament (lagwars) was certainly influenced by crashes pretty heavily.  Erska and Sakke may have won it all if not for 2 crashes.  I know we need to make a rule about this, certainly, but its a shame that more than likely at least 1 of these teams will be eliminated due to the games stability or a users connection and not truly being beaten.

Busy guy!

I approve of the team name Pacov!

It is actually around 27 pages, but one of them is a group project, and a game development/management project. I need to start on the backstory of the game soon.

Let's see if we can semi-quickly lock down the rules.  Then perhaps we can get onto picking the dates.  Here's what we have so far:

  • Exactly 1 player on the team MUST choose either Reg, DA, or TB.
  • The 2nd player may choose any Demigod but cannot select the same Demigod as his teammate
  • Each match in the tournament will be the best 2 out of 3

Additional rules to discuss:

  • As you can change demigods (as long as 1 teammate has reg/da/tb) should we have a rule that team on light must pick their characters and ready up and then dark gets to pick?  (then the teams would just switch roles for the next game)
  • How will crashes be handled?
  • Map selection - cataract seems to be the logical choice, but no one has confirmed that this is it.  We good with this?
  • How will we handle tracking wins/losses.  Post a screenshot here?  Are replays required?
  • Will the tournament span mutliple days - round 1 on X day, round 2 X day, etc.
  • Who's drawing up some brackets for us?

I think all of these rules are excellant and should stay exactly as you have stated them.

I agree with this rule completely because I usually end up counter picking my opponents characters and this would give both teams equal chances to do this.

I think Catarct with all standard settings would work the best for this because playing reg on Prison is not much fun.

How will we handle tracking wins/losses.  Post a screenshot here?  Are replays required?

Replays posted on gamereplays.org would be the easiest way to determine who won the game. If any strange discrepencies like someone D/C when they obviously have the game in hand could result in the D/C team still recieving a win for that round with the review of the replay.

Will the tournament span mutliple days - round 1 on X day, round 2 X day, etc.

Replays posted on gamereplays.org

Is gamereplays.org even working now?  I believe they dropped support of dg.  Anyone successfully post a replay there recently?

Updated - added cataract to agreed upon. Added quesiton about map settings

What we've agreed on:

  • Exactly 1 player on the team MUST choose either Reg, DA, or TB.
  • The 2nd player may choose any Demigod but cannot select the same Demigod as his teammate
  • Each match in the tournament will be the best 2 out of 3
  • Map will be cataract

Additional rules to discuss:

  • As you can change demigods (as long as 1 teammate has reg/da/tb) should we have a rule that team on light must pick their characters and ready up and then dark gets to pick?  (then the teams would just switch roles for the next game) - hedgie, cow, and pacov support this idea
  • How will crashes be handled?
  • How will we handle tracking wins/losses.  Post a screenshot here?  Are replays required? - waiting for confirmation that game we can still upload to game replays.org
  • Will the tournament span mutliple days - round 1 on X day, round 2 X day, etc.
  • Who's drawing up some brackets for us?
  • What settings should we use for the map.  My vote would be default settings, but very high HP and very low Exp/Gold for AI.  This at least gives a team that loses a player late game a chance.
