Introduction

The Maelstrom Mod introduces four new races to the SoaSE Universe.

It keeps the original races, the TEC, Advent and Vasari who are still to be found building and battling as usual.

All of the new races are independent of the original races and have unique strengths and weaknesses.

Are the new races balanced well with the vanilla races? (I'm talking about non-expansion, if that matters.)

Titans will be generated as per standard Rebellion. The Dreads will most likely still be spawned

Sorry for sounding like a noob, but it's because I am. I just bought the game yesterday. How does modding work with Trinity? Do I just download the Diplomacy pack?

Yes, you have the option to use any Sins version, but when it says "play trinity", its the same as Diplomacy.

I think the advent dreadnoughts are slightly underpowered (at least in the diplomacy version, (don't know if it makes a difference))  I think it would be a good addition to make the plasma capable of firing forward since the single beam weapon is not powerful enough to support the ship by itself.

also, did you guys edit the grav well sizes or are dreadnoughts just unimaginably slow?

The Planets are awesome!

But Sadly: the titan System is gamebreaking.
You can build your titan in the first minutes...and clean a whole solar system with it.

If you guys are really worried about the titans or dreads being unbalanced, just edit the galaxyscenariodef file so each side starts with 1 under the quick start options.  Remove the spawn ability from the controllers.  Problem solved.

removed the titan and dread buildings from home wolrd, now its fine...
but for the next time...i will try to download the Standard version first *facepalm*

hope there will be Rebellion support later, this mod is awesome

It will be an idea to add a third sub-faction to existing sub-factions in rebellion.

And add a new capitall class called artillery cruisers...

I can only hope Rebellion, when it is finally released out of beta, will be moddable. So far from what I have seen is that if fitting large mods into Diplomacy was a problem, then Rebellion will be a problem+

If you take the mod to rebellion you're either going to have to nerf wail of the sanctified (at least that's what i believe its called, correct me if its wrong) or reduce the population of the Dyson spheres and such since a wail from a planed with 8000 population or so would be absolutely devastating.

 

By the way, in my opinion this mod is only rivaled by Distant Stars and Seven Deadly Sins.  Keep it up! k5

Not sure what the 'wail of the sanctified' ability is? It sounds like 'Sins of the Fallen'.

But in general the Dyson Spheres and Ring World are a bit over the top.

Thanks for the compliment as they are great mods. In fact 7DS is what inspired me to create Maelstrom.
