Introduction

The Maelstrom Mod introduces four new races to the SoaSE Universe.

It keeps the original races, the TEC, Advent and Vasari who are still to be found building and battling as usual.

All of the new races are independent of the original races and have unique strengths and weaknesses.

Don't have Diplomacy or Entrenchment.  Running Vanilla

Same thing... You need to update to the latest version of Vanilla then.

"What do the dreadnaughts do ?" It's clobbering time!

"IS there any way to remove the meteors while still keeping expenaded version ?" A Titan flagship!

ZombiesRus5 just answered the same question a few posts ago ... R6 is patched to the latest versions of Sins (O,E,D)

just some feedback for the developement team......the pirates are too powerful in the expansion. so much so that i now no longer consider ai factions a threat.  otherwise great mod everyone!

Early to mid game they are tough ... after that you can ignore them, that is, setting up appropriate planets with planetary defenses

I'm seen a 750 crystal cost on the Farscape long range frigate..that a typo ?

Yes the dreaded order of magnitude error (75 is much better).  It has been fixed for R7 which should be out this coming weekend.

yay! Why isnt sins easier to mod ? It would have been nice to just be able to change a value in notepad

If an entity file is left in txt form you can do just that; many modders do in fact use notepad for modding.

Thanks for updating the mod regularly--one of my top favorites.

Thanks, R7 should be out this weekend.

Also note that for R6 the abilities for the Magnetar and Quasar Stars are broken and will cause a mini-dump in maps that use them. This has been fixed for R7.

For those that are interested, R7 is available for downloading ... see links above.

So me and my friends use to play this mod on vanilla sins with the new dreadnoughts and it would work fine with the occasional mini dump but today we decided to get the version with no dreadnoughts however within the game loading the game mini dumps right away and we can't figure out why

Have you got Sins Original patched to v1.193?

Yeah, if it helps we were doing everything on low settings for visual stuff, my computer has an I7 processor with 4GB of ram and my friends computer has at least 2GBs of ram and a quad 4 processor. We use to be able to run the mod with super dreadnoughts at max settings for everything and we would only have a mini dump if we had more than 2 200+ ship fleets fighting each other

I improved the memory foot prints on all Maelstrom versions. E & D run on graphics on effects set all to highest and O run on everything on highest but 'bump'.

This would happen mid-to-late game as more models and textures are load and the 2GB limit is reached. Not so much as the number of ships in play, that will only effects game lag.

My enabled checksum for Maelstrom Original R7 is 1191806555. Which site did you download it from?

So myself, GoaFan77 and Seleucia randomly downloaded this mod for the first time tonight and played it. We each picked a different one of the three new races. I've got to say, lots of cool stuff in this one! Keep up the good work! We had a blast. :-)

I got it from moddb and my mod check sum is different than that also at some point my friends checksum changed so now we can't play together, oddly enough I can play the titan version (downloaded it also) by myself at medium to high graphics and nothing bad happens

Download Maelstrom Original v1.193 R7, from ModDB, and tested with no problems. So far, on ModDB, no comments on problem similar to yours.

The graphics are not the issue, just follow the recommended graphics settings.

Quick question since I went ahead and downloaded the R7 version for the original mod should I or should I not install the 4gb patch? Also it turns out that I do have the R7 version of the expansion mod however as soon as I started up a saved game of the expansion mod I had a mini dump happen and I'm not sure why
