Catch me up

Catch me up

Hello,

I quit playing Demigod a bit before the new heroes and replays were out.

Fill me in on what I've been missing.

How are the new heroes?  What are they good/bad at?

Are heroes balanced well now?  When I quit most heroes except Rook and TB were considered OP:P

Any new items?

Are favor points done sensibly now?

How are replays going?  Do we need to save locally after each game or are they hosted automatically for us online?  Is there a web site where people share great replays?  Is the replay editor nice (can easily switch between people and see watch their POV throughout the game, can skip around inside replays, etc.)

Can we mod this yet?  New maps, heroes, etc.?

Can we have more than two teams yet?  Always wanted 3-4 player FFA or 2vs2vs2 or something.

Skirmish and Pantheon.  I remember one was folded into the other.  Are they still alive or are we subsiding on only custom games now?

Whatever else.

Your pal,
sly

Level 4 shield has a bug that you can interrupt with Silence, yes.

yeah - the strongest 2v2 team is most likely oak with cloak of the night and erb with botf.  ganking potential = very strong.  Heh - if you are up against it, you need to avoid getting ganked pretty much.

I used to use cloak with erebus all the time, and I was a top 10 player without stacked teams or exploits...

Yes, you have bat swarm but the problem is that's a one-way ticket.  If you _really_ have a good feel for what you can and can't survive, you can bat swarm behind enemy towers to a fleeing opponent, get a bite off, finish off with auto-attack, and still TP out without dying to towers.

You need to have a very good feel for your character to do this, since if you don't have enough mana leftover after bat swarm to bite you're often dead, and if you misjudge the health differentials on either character, the number of auto-attacks (hopefully 0) you'll need before bite's slow wears off, or the tower damage you're dead.  Against good players, however, I found that walking the razor's edge was often the only way to gank quick kills that would turn the game.

Also nice for if bat swarm is on CD or you're low on mana.

Finally, it's just more exciting and fun.  Health stacking is lame and boring and once it really took root it killed the game for me so I left.

I'm quite the fan of the over aggressive plays (and dying to towers if need be).  In the world of health stacking, the same rules apply - you just need to alter your math to account for sigils, etc.  You can still pull of finesse kills, but with many people going botf, its obviously much more difficult with an erb with cloak of night.

Anyway, are you intending on actually firing up DG again?

Well congratulations but what you used to do vs the noobs in epoch 1 doesn't have much relevance now.  I was 4th overall back then and in 80% of my games I played Anklet Reg or TB.  Times have changed.

Lol just helping him to get caught up, maybe if I stir the pot a little bit he'll be tempted into giving the game a try again to see if he's still got it.

I know... HP stacking.

It's why I quit, remember?

It's why I asked if there were new or changed items.

HP stacking is boring and killed the game for me.  Just like I already said.  Telling me there's nothing to do nowadays if you want to win except HP stack with Blood does little to entice me to play, mate.  It seems the lack of diversity in playstyle options as well as the character of the community itself has only gotten worse with time.

No, I'm not coming back.

Cheers,
Sly

I didn't say HP stacking was the only way to win, my argument was that whatever your cloak of night noob stomp build for Erebus was, it wouldn't get you into the top 10 today.  HP stacking evolved to counter speed stacking which wasn't much better.  The game became about flag control and coordinated pressure instead of everyone running around at 7.5 speed trying to force kills.

it's all quite moot - guy wanted to be caught up on state of game (done), but doesn't intend to play it going forward (noted).  Not interested in builds as he's decided HP stack = unfair = no play (woo).  So, there you have it.

/seacrest - out

I'm just so angry though pacov, I have a 5 game losing streak and cow disconnected like 14 times tonight, so no it's not quite moot. This guy doesn't get to question your character as well as mine, and have the last word.  I'm taking the last word on behalf of the community!  F*** him.

Treating onlookers like that... yeah that should help bolster your woefully unsustainable playerbase.

Don't know what your community would do without people like you

TY for confirming my statement.  And learn to control your emotions. You ought to be able to control your demeanor regardless of if you've had a bad day or a good day.

Your lack of foresight is unfortunate.

a.)  Treating new or returning prospects poorly goes above and beyond merely losing a single player.  Each candidate has friends with friends with friends with friends.  Each candidate has access to review sites and messageboards.  A small pack of disgruntled prospective players can have a substantial impact on curbing buzz about a game by relaying their poor experiences across available channels.

Fortunately for you guys, there is already little to no buzz about the game to kill, and the general impression of the community (from the outside) has already been very poor ever since the sheer animosity on these forums was sufficient to eject frogboy from the support circle.

b.)  Other players viewing the thread often turn elsewhere when they see posters resorting to profanity towards others at the very slightest provocation.  I have myself been in the position several times of turning tail against a game when a quick peek at their forums reveals a large amount of pent-up tension, and in particular if I identify instances where new or returning players are mistreated.

Anyway, I'd like to isolate pacov from my assertions.  He was pretty much the single ray of light, back years ago when I first dug into the game and it seems now as well.  The community actually is very lucky to have him, and I appreciate that he was willing to actually the questions relevant to the OP instead of derailing/participating in derailing the thread with excessive balancing allegations and personal attacks.

I was clearly joking, cow only disconnected 4 times, frustrating yes but hardly enough to make me lash out at some random.  However comparing the 5 people who still post here and also still play the game, as well as the other 5 who still post but don't play anymore to the jerks who originally "ejected frogboy from the support circle" is a douche move.

so prove me wrong instead of proving me right. :\

and ofc its appropriate to compare the old vs. new.  Most of the names here I recognize from those days, and the rest I'm even less impressed with (i.e. you).

Hence, worse than ever is an appropriate comparison.

Seriously, mate.  Do your community a favor and pipe down.

Lol are you actually threatening me?  Pipe down or what, you're going to tell your friends on your next crocodile hunt not to buy Demigod?  Oh wait you're not Australian so shut the f*** up and quit calling me mate.  Also I don't care to prove you wrong, you're some idiot who asked about the state of the game with no intention of returning.  Then after you got your answer you also tried to blabber your way into a discussion about the cloak of night in high level games, with your pointless and outdated opinions.  I alone commented on how stupid it was for you to say anything on the issue, so why are you mad at the whole community?

Out of date opinions?  I thought you guys said the game didn't change any since I left. -_-

And my opinion of the community was not formed from this thread alone, nor from you alone.  I've been poking around, and it's the impression I got.  You're merely ascertaining this impression.

The solution is to apologize for unwarranted swearing at me or leave me alone.

I've been playing this game for quite some time and the way this man played Erebus is something you'd have to take a look at yourself. No one did what he did and the way he played was actually interesting to watch.

Yeah sure times have changed, but it's easy to see that if he stuck around until now he'd be at the top. It's not that hard to distinguish the intelligent ones from the rest of the batch.

Playing these online games made me realize how much difference a brain actually makes. I used to think the best gamers were those fat smelly guys that had nothing better to than play video games all day while locking themselves up in their parent's basement.
