Windowblinds Acting Up

This may be the first issue I have ever had with Windowblinds. It's blacking out parts of windows. On other windows, it's blacking out the details pain and showing the menu bar there. If I maximizer it and reduce it, some of it goes away.

I uninstalled and reinstalled WB today and no change.

When I had it uninstalled, the problems did not occur.

Po'... In Impulse, Hit Shift+right click on WB and choose Verify Installation. If it says it's installed correctly, run sfc /scannow.

Installed correctly.

How do I run the sfc/scannow?

*If I apply classic windows theme or aero with windowblinds, everything is fine. If I apply any other skin it starts screwing up.

Go to your Command Prompt...

If all that is ok.... then did WB update recently? Are you using a pre-release version?

If so, 1) roll back by unchecking the "pre-release" option in Impulse Preferences, closing Impulse and then reopening it. 2) Doing the "Verify" again. That will take you back to the last "ready for release" version, which should work correctly for you.

Open the Command Prompt by right clicking on it and choose "Run as Administrator" (and fix your stupid UAC sometime!).

I don't know what the previous version was. :S

GameBooster2 told me there was an update and I downloaded it.

After the repair is done, reboot. See if WB works now.

UAC... security center... lower the level of notification.

Still the same. :S

Tried to open the CBS.log but I keep getting 'Unable to open file'.

You could try a system restore to a time prior to your driver change.

Gonna try it if I can get it to open.

Agree.

If the file repair and driver roll back didn't work, Restore.

Are you sure you simply can't roll back the driver?

Look Here:

The last restore point I can go to is the day the driver update was done.

Will that remove the update or will it restore the PC to the moment the driver was updated?

*Rolled back the driver and rebooted. Still the same.

Won't help you. Try the driver roll back first....it's very simple. Just follow the instructions in the link.

I would try it as it may have been a restore point created by the driver install.

Also, did you click on the show more restore points?

Also, did you click on the show more restore points?

Yes. That is the last one available.

Not sure I understand why you won't try the roll back before restoring, but it wouldn't hurt to try... you won't break anything.

Doc...Po edited reply 20 saying it didn't work.

If the restore doesn't work you could try a ATI driver from around the time you installed Windows 7.

Also, did you uninstall your ATI drivers before you updated them or did you install on top of the old ones? I ask because sometimes installing on top of drivers can cause issues. You should uninstall and then do a clean install of the new ones when updating.
