The purpose of this thread is to contain discussions made by the decision making panel pertaining to the 2nd Demigod Community Tournament.  Per the rules and registration thread http://forums.impulsedriven.com/396231, here are some more details about the panel.

Decision Making Panel

This tournament will be governed by a decision making panel consisting of pacov, McShane, hedgie with jongalt as an alternate.  The panel's purpose is as follows:

  • Review any scheduling issues and making the final decisions with regards to disqualification. 
  • Reviewing replays as required (crashes and desyncs)
  • Resolving any disputes that arise

The panel's decision on all matters will be the final word for this tournament. And last, the members of the decision making panel will not make any decisions on the games they are playing in.  We didn't have a panel in place for the first tournament and that was a mistake.

So, if you have a game that requires reviewing, etc, please post here.

Current discussion:  What team combinations will be allowed in the final 4?  Discussion over.

quick summary

team 1 v team 4, team 2 v team 3

All games are best 2 out of 3 elimination. So, we only have a semi-finals and finals round now.

Whatever team is on light in game 1 will choose from the list of acceptable team combos.

Whatever team is on light in game 2 (teams will rotate sides) will choose a different option from the list of acceptable team combos.

If there is a game 3, the remaining dg combo must be used.

Here are the combos:

QoT, erebus, UB
Rook-Reg-Erebus
ub tb erebus

So, we'll just make this quite official, then - and I think its a simple compromise that should keep all parties quite happy.

Teams in the final 4 portion of our tournament will have the option of 1) sticking with the original character selection rules or 2) going with the mirror match selection.  Before teams start their games, they will briefly discuss the option they want to go with.  If the teams do not agree, then they will stick the original demigod selection rules as listed in the rules and registration thread; however, once the teams have agreed on the character selection rules, they will stick with those rules for that match (eg either you stick with the old rules for the best 2 out of 3 or you stick with the mirror match rules for the best 2 out of 3).  These rules apply for both the semi-finals and the finals. 

That should hopefully take care of it. 

The semi finals MUST be completed by Tuesday at midnight (or at least be in progress at that point).  If you make it to the finals, you will be expected to play in the finals no later than Thursday at midnight.  If the games have not taken place by that point, disqualifications will occur.  Disqualifications will be determined based on teams making a logical effort to get their games in.  Hoping you get your game in and not being willing to schedule will result in a disqualification if you do not meet those deadlines.  The easiest way to avoid that is to simply speak with your team and make a post in the scheduling thread based on your availability.  I'd hope to see a little more effort than "we hope everyone is on when we are" because if that is all the effort that is put into it, you will likely be disqualified.  Avoid that by making an effort.

Anyway, I'm out of town tomorrow afternoon until Sunday evening.

Yea I meant Jon, Trouser, Chiefy/Badaddy the new team I thought he joined as alternate. If that's not an actual team anymore then you just need to play Darkliath's team.

You can play them if you want Jona, won't really mean anything though unless you lose.

Decision time, I've said this in another thread but I'll make it official here.  My vote is the 2 teams competing for 4th place have until tomorrow at midnight to finish their games.  If they don't, we cut the playoffs to final 3, each team plays a 3 game set against both of the other teams, most total victories wins.  If there's a tie we go into overtime with a single elimination 4th game.

I'm on board with McShane's vote here.  DQ both teams if they do not have their games in by midnight tonight.  Sounds likes the vote is past - so that what will happen. 

We'll wait until then, then dq if nothing has happened.  Then we will continue the discussion on rules for the final 4 and schedule the games.

I do not agree with this decision at all.  The only time we are able to play Iz's team is during the weekend.  They are only ever on pre-5 when rawwrr isn't available during the week.  We should at least get an extension for the weekend so we can be on before then when they are available.   If we are forced to play tonight or be DQ'd  then we need to sub someone in and I was thinking Nom  since Jongalt dissolved his team.

Sure go ahead and use nom but no extensions in my opinion, there's been very little effort to organize the games until the deadline was announced.  I'd prefer we be playing the final games this weekend, not still trying to figure out who is 4th.  Since they have 2 wins and you guys have 0, going ahead without a 4th if you don't play tonight seems fair.

Agreed.  I can't play this weekend anyway (military duty).  Tonight or bust, I'm sitting on vent atm.. dark and iz are on and jona and I are on.  Both missing a 3rd person... (we don't even know who our 3rd is).

We dont have 0 all the teams we beat dropped out after a few games.  We played all the top teams in first 2 days that were even a team without any practice with random dg combos.  Whenever we were on all the teams that we were waiting to play that had played one game against you all dropped out of the tourney until it only came down to the team that is never on when we are on due to time zone differences.

Ok we found two alternates not in the tourney,  IZ only has timne for 1 game.  So i would suggest if u cant extend the limit,  whoever wins is 4th.

Here is the game.  We need a council decision because Iz dc'd at 35mins right after rawwr got bulwark.  He does not agree that we would of won.  Darkliath said after Iz's dc in game chat that the game was ours.  It is verrrry close,  but bulwark on ub 3 levels ahead when its rawwrr there is no contest...  We were 10k+ ahead in gold.  Or you could extend our time limit and let us play 3 fresh games.

Just a tiny correction. I didn't say that game was yours. My exact answer was: "Darkliath: Ask my teammates. I am for letting you go to 4th place, but dunno about them"

It was not because you would have won or something. I don't really care in that matter. It's just that I think my team haven't deserved to be that 4th team.

Moreover. I wanted you to get 4th place before the game even started by surrendering (if that's possible?), because darz didn't show up (as usually) and I got really disappointed by that.

game reviewed - 40 minutes in - dark's team just lost their portal.  Both teams have giants, but jona's team's are a bit stronger. 

Rawrr just picked up bulwark.

There have been 8 deaths on jona's team.  8 deaths on darks team.

At this precise moment, darks team hold a total of 3 flags.  The rest are owned by jonas team.

4nana just gets 2 kills - 1 on iz... then 1 on dark.  And they continue to hold dark's portal.

at 41:15, jona's team takes valor (dark's team now holds 2 flags).  Game ends due to connectivity issue or dc.

 

I can see why some folks on dark's team would have not considered it a loss at that point.  The game was quite a bit of back and forth with dark's team dominating at points, etc.  However, very late game things started to fall apart.  I didn't really consider the game over because rawrr picked up bulwark, though.  Iz had enough items and money be able to sell a few things and pick up bulwark, but because of the portal and valor flag control, he's never have gotten the chance to pick it up.  Anyway, at the time of the crash/dc/whatever, I'd have given dark's team about a 5% chance to win.  I think its clear that jona's team would have won this beyond a reasonable doubt.

Anyone else want to review this match?

mmm, not sure, but (and jona's going to kill me for saying this lol) i think  Iz_ dropped just a little before we got the portal. We kept on playing a little longer after Iz_ dropped, so chances are the replay ends when they conceded, and NOT when Iz_ dropped.

I haven't seen the replay, so i'm really not sure, and my memory could be very well failing me. Do replays always end when someone drops ? :maybe:
