WindowBlinds 8.09 Beta Update

Today we have released the WindowBlinds 8.09 beta.  This also addresses the issues from the last update that users reported.

Updated:

  • Fix for a fix for Firefox titlebar issue
  • Added better support for high DPI displays
  • Directory Opus and Skype 7 fixes

You can download the update from your Stardock account.

I went to Stardock/My Account, there were two options, version 8.06.0 or 8.09.0(Beta).  I downloaded the beta and rebooted, it shows as loaded. 

I am running Skype and it did fix the dropdown menu problem.

I had to disable Windows Defender to install successfully on Win 8.1, but the update installed smoothly and Malwarebytes works again, too! Thanks Stardock for a quick, thorough fix!

Can confirm that the 64-bit version of this "fixes" the previous Directory Opus problem in Win8.1.

Still has the titlebar painting issue (total transparency) in Pale Moon (Firefox) on Win7Pro 64bit here.  It is usually always present on first launch of Palemoon (from it's icon) & requires re-applying the skin via WB Config to fix it.  It's strange, though: if the first launch is by way of a link in an email, for instance, it usually paints normally.  Paints normally on subsequent launches in same computing session.

This was the case with 8.06, too, FWIW.

I have no idea Daiwa, I was just quoting what someone else posted. I do not use Firefox, or Palemoon.

It definitely fixed the titlebar painting issue on Firefox for me. I am running Firefox 34.0.

An alternate way to fix this issue is to go to the Customize Menu in Firefox in the Menu near the Search Box. Or you can go to View - Toolbars - Customize. Open the menu and on the very bottom left you will see a Title Bar button. Click it and the Title Bar will appear and will no longer be transparent. Then exit the Customize Menu.

How did you install?

Uninstall WB, reboot, and then reinstall.  Something is not being overwritten correctly.

I uninstalled three times because it kept showing in my programs. After reinstalling and activating, nothing works. I uninstalled again and ran a registry cleaner. Hopefully that will work. If not,then I'm gonna give up. Im tired of wasting the day on one program.

Put windowblinds 7 back on this morning. Installed fine. Won't load any skins. Tried to reinstall Windowblinds 8 and it says to install 7 first. Done with windowblinds and win customize. Back to ordinary windows. I guess I wasted my money on all of this.

I uninstalled WindowBlinds, rebooted and reinstalled. Still had some issues, so I did another uninstall and reinstalled this morning again.

I can see that the Directory Opus issue is resolved, but my Firefox 34, is still without a title bar. Even the dialogs, like options, comes up without a title bar.

Supposedly setting Firefox back to default settings fixes that issue LStatie, there's a thread somewhere here on the site about it but I just can't find it again.

Just realized that the fix is actually in this thread!

Updated to FireFox v35.0, and it's now crashing immediatly on startup.  The error listing is "wbload.dll".

If I exclude FF from being skinned, then it will start, but the titlebar is solid black, (no tabs or buttons available).

 

Edit:  I did the customization tweak LightStar outlined above, and now FF is runnign again in a usable fashion, albeit without any skinning applied...

Do you have any custom addons in Firefox which possibly mess with text rendering?

 

A bunch, yeah,  but even starting FF in safe mode, (or Private mode) without loading any add-ons or extensions
results in the same crash immediatly at startup.

Would it help any if I send you a screenshot of the FF error page entry ?
