WB6 is working great here. It even seems to load skins faster in the config window and apply them faster as well. I do have one gripe though. The transparency (at least for my skin of choice currently) doesn't seem to work at all. I'm using "aerial" by danillOC. The taskbar is transparent no matter what settings I choose to apply. Does this mean I have to go into SKS and change the attributes for the taskbar image or is this a "bug/feature" ? It's not a major thing either way, but I don

whatever. I've tried to give my own personal opinions and my experiences with the programs I've used for years. Yet every time I do someone has to make a seemingly personal attack. whether you believe it or not "close-minded" is an attack and personal. I have yet to argue with anyone on here and disparage their own opinions. I merely speak from my own experience in using 3d to create a windowblinds skin. any photoshop user worth his skill can easily create a an object

Very nice IRaidedTheFridge. I agree with that comment. Very good. But that in itself is the point I was trying to get across. 3d seems so superfluous to me right now with WB skins. Until you have a reason to rotate a window or start menu or

While I was in the military, I was stopped constantly, even out of uniform. It's an odd feeling to be thanked, at least for me. I never joined for the congratulations or for the respect or anything like that. I did it because someone needs to step up from time to time and stand for something. Being thanked for something I felt like I should be doing is humbling to say the least. You have no idea how much it means to those in service though. Being in, is a very thankless job (when around

How about the option to automatically delete the default images when you import a custom image? This would save some of us from going in and having to manually delete tons of images. Maybe on the import image popup (where it asks if it has all frames in it) having an option to delete the default image upon import. I would find that useful, along with almost everything people have already stated.

does this have any benefit over irfanview? I've been using it for years nad it can view anything (including videos), even corrupted images *sometimes* and it'll automatically change the image to the correct file format if someone misnamed it. And best of all it's free. I'm just wondering how it compares.

I'll give you feedback based on your screenshot. I haven't used the WB itself. Also please don't take my comments as rude. I'll try to help as best I can from the screenshot. First off the start panel is too big. The top and bottom are fine, but the sides are way too wide. Second there is no user icon even though your start panel is large enough to accomadate one. Third, the seperators in the start panel look like the default ones. Perhaps change them or take them out entirely? Fourth,

Also the skin you posted on was based on a winamp skin and a LS theme. I didn't make most of the design choices. Other creative people did. But to base that skin on the ones I already mentioned, design choices were made for me. My comments on your skin were nothing to do with design, IT was good. The execution..was not. please don't try and be some johnny-come-lately </di

Well, in defense to xino, I also agree. Modeling is a very complicated operation. Unlike 2D, 3D uses all 3 axis therefore all axis of the model must be represented. Like i mentioned before tho in my honest opinion Mapping is the most difficult process taken on in the process of modeling. With 2d, you apply the desired design, effecs, image, whatever, and you're done. with 3D, modeling is just the beginning to a long process of swearing and pulling

I never said you had no experience but your assuming that just because i havent yet produced a 3d looking WB that I cant, how do you know what my 3D background is, How do you know that I havent learned splines, nurb modelling, deformations, extrude?? I have been learning and experimenting in 3DSMax for years also, you think your the only one that can use a 3D app? Perhaps I choose not to brag about it as though I wrote the book. Honestly your work

Xino, that's excellent! I mean it. Are you planning on creating an IP based on this visual? thank you and yes, it'll be a full icon pack. but I know the limitations and soon other people will see them too. Perhaps those are your limitations, speaking for myself, and without elaborating on my methods, I can

since WC doesn't have a work in progress area for uploading, I had to post it on DA. this is an old image, but I'm still working on the entire suite. work has kept me away from skinning for awhile unfortunately. http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/20956608/

Good post -Xino! And I like the idea of creating the model with a 3D app, then use PhotoShop or PSP to texture it, I think that's the way to go for static icons. When everything is 3D and animated, then it will be another story! that's what I've done with my icons as well. you get great perspective with them and they don't look all funky. I absolutely loathe "3d" icons made in 2d programs with bad perspec

why create anything 3d when you can only use it in 2d? Thats not entirely true..yes your screen is flat but u can see a 3D model in a wallpaper right? If Start menus, windows, etc are slightly angled a 3D looked can be acheived in an interface. If you dont think so.. stay tuned. <b

the reason why there aren't that many "3d" skins is because there's no real reason for it. why create anything 3d when you can only use it in 2d? basically you're adding something more complicated with no real benefit. you can't rotate a window, you can't turn buttons, etc. the ONLY benefit of using a 3d program is that you can have a uniform lighting system for reflections and the like, but just because you can model in 3d, doesn't mean you can texture in 3d, nor light it. any true 3d artist wi

I for one am actually looking forward to this. Same with the Macromedia/Adobe buyout. People seem to forget that just because you lose one competitor doesn't mean that another one won't rise in it's place. Besides being a surprise to pretty much everyone, I think most of the contacts I have in the CG industry are rather happy about it in the long run. For 3d software, there are tons of different applications out there. Maya is geared more to
