While I'm sure it'd be fun for each race to have some unique bling for starship design, I don't think the races need to have specific boosts. I'm all for new and nifty things being entered into the tech tree, though, like the alignment specific buildings. I still haven't seen the alignment specific weapons and defenses yet though.
ZTrooper
Man.. that item is a game breaker. I have yet to lose a single game once I've developed that weapon, regardless of what the other civs have created. I think it needs to be nerfed, or moved higher in the tech tree.
Actually, I'm getting rather annoyed that in my sandbox games, no one ever surrenders to me, even when I have close diplomatic relations with them. The AI players surrender to each other all the time, but never to the human player. Definitely a flaw in the logic of the game imho.
I've made combat enabled troop transports. I just used large size hulls, and slapped a single weapon, and a little defense on them. Worked really well. I wouldn't want them as my main attacking force, but damn it was handy to have some defense and firepower when you got surprised by a maurading ship, or got caught on the bad side of a battle after your main combat fleet got toasted. It's a little more expensive to use a hull with hitpoints as opposed to the standard transport hulls, but in the g
Just trying to figure out if one victory type or another yeilds more points in the final score. I've done Military, Cultural, Technology, and Political, but I can't really tell if one is better than the other. They are certainly varying degrees of difficulty to achieve, however. (Just try to get the Drengin to ally with you if you're not evil!)
My two cents on this one. The random events need to be toned down. I got *4* Lucky rangers in one game! That seems a bit off. Not to mention, that same game, I ran into an AI player that had *9* Precursor corvettes. Fortunately, Rangers are so slow to move, you have some time to plan to counter them. In my most recent game, I found 2 Rangers, Accidently Assasinated the most powerful AI player's leader *TWICE* (once I can understand, but c'mon, twice in the same game? LIke I needed ho
Just out of curiousity... I've uploaded my games to the metaverse, and generally speaking, I'll pick the neutral choice on most of the moral dilemma questions in game. Occasionally, I'll pick a good option, and more rarely, I'll pick an evil. My character on the Metaverse is listed as Chaotic Good.. I can't find any specific details on the breakdowns of all the alignment names/types and what the benefits/penalties are for each of them. Anyone else have any info on this?
(reposted from my response in another thread on races not making use of ships given to them) I too have had ships in and out of range of the receiving civilization not utilize ships I gave them. I've given to major, and minor civs, and play with the AI on normal, and the ships just sit there half the time. I don't know if it's a bug in the AI, but I had a minor race, that wasn't even under attack from a major power, (but might have been at war.. I destroyed the attack

I destroyed the attacking fleet since the minor race was right next to one of my planets), About every 10 or so turns, the dam
twice now, I've had this dandy little specialty mass driver weapon show up in my build menu, and I can't for the life of me figure out which combinations of technologies are required to make it available. Trust me, if you've gone down the mass driver weapon tree, you *want* nano rippers, you *need* nano rippers, you *must* have them. Why? Well, they're the most powerful weapon I've managed to develop so far. While most all of my weapons developed right off the tech tree are damage 1,
New bug: When signing into the metaverse, hitting the tab key does not take me from the name field to the password field. Annoying, but not exactly a game breaker.
You would have needed to start your game as a Metaverse game. You do that by clicking on the Metaverse button in the game's main menu screen. Did that. Logged in and everything. Played the whole game, it gave me my score, and all I could click was "Done" at the end. No score shows up attached to my name when I look it up in the metaverse here
Pardon my ignorance here, but I've got a saved game, and I'd like to upload the score to the Metaverse, but I can't seem to find out what to click where to upload it. Thanks!
I posted in Brad's known bug list, but I too am getting the 'ghost' fleets, and not just with transports. I'm also getting fleets where I can't combine ships that are well under the point total of my current cap. Yay for the detailed info screen! Also, is it normal for your civ to be stuck in the corner of the map, or be always surrounded by *all* the other races so you have to punch through all of them to get to any habitable worlds? (which is just about impossible
I just built regular large ships, armored and weaponed them up, and named them Combat Freighters. Kept the riffraff from blowing up my trade routes.
*** Remembered a few more as my sleep deprived brain got some caffine in it*** 10. I gave ships to an allied minor race, as they were in a life or death struggle with the current leader on the map. The AI, while grateful for the ships, left about half of them just sitting there, and never used them in any way. I don't think it was a range issue, as there were some ships that the AI started using right away. 11. Later in the game, when I conquered the race that my ally was f
Here's my short list of mystery bugs and issues. I played a metaverse game (though apparently I botched getting the score uploaded), Begginer level, Medium size universe, 9 races, I played stock Thalans. (game ran from about 7pm to 3:30am... god... it's been years since I lost track of time that badly! Good job!) 1. I too am getting the "They blew up my resource mining starbase and now when I try to build a new starbase on that resource, the game acts like it's not there any more" bug
Quick question, completed a game last night, w/ 9 civs, one a medium size universe (god was that cramped!), and won the game. I thought my scores were uploaded to the Metaverse, but apparently they weren't. Is there something I have to do after I win to make sure my scores are sent up? (yes, I have an account, and my character shows up when I go to the metaverse screen, but it shows no games played and no score)
After I alt-tab out and then try to come back, the game displays a black screen but with a working game cursor. Nothing seems to cure the black screen after the alt-tab. I'm forced to kill the app and use a save game. This isn't a terrible problem but is kinda irritating. I'd rather not run in windowed mode. I get the same thing, but if I
AMD X2 4400+ here also. I was seeing some jumpiness in the fleet battle scenes, especially right before a ship would explode. I also had some issues with Alt-Tab to switch and application. When I came back, the screen would be black. If I hit esc several times to get to an options screen, I could get video back, and the game would proceed as normal. (Running SLI eVGA 7800GT 256mb each), Also using 1680 X 1050 Dell widescreen LCD monitor.
you are successfully preloaded you should be able to go to your shortcut in the start menu and tell it to play the game. Then it should come up with a splash screen. If you click play it tells you to wait until the 21st. You can also read the manual from there. The last button is "update." Then I definitely have a pre-load issue. None of that
Not my first pre-order, but definitely my first pre-load, and definitely the first time in a long time I've been staring at the calander waiting for a release date to hit. I am jonsing hard for this game!
Hrm. when I did my downloads, and I selected install, it caused the program to crash. I though the crash message was because it wasn't the 21st yet, and it was not able to install.... If things are botched up on my download, how can I tell, and how do I go about re-downloading? What should I be able to do when things are successfully downloaded here, pre-launch?
Personally, I just want to know what these extra components are. Are they going to provide any significant advantage? Are they pure fluff? Are they the same components that would be in the Bonus Pack? (My understanding is that the bonus pack would have different additional components than the pre-order additional components). I pre-ordered from Stardock to get the download, and get the extras, and hopefully put a few more bucks in their pocket. What I would like to know th
