Stil Rey - what MB is that? My hope is regardless of the cause the devs can find a work around - whether that is to enable proper HW Sound - would be nice :) or allowing more cutting down of the sound eg force stereo/mono etc, I don't mind I just want a solution :(
Bu...bu...bu... i like the sound
I would suggest posting to the other thread - link on my post above. This is the instruction thread the other thread is the complaint and the confirmation that it is a workaround. If enough people post to it then it will make the devs more interested. If it's just 6 of us (which I think is about the number people indicating they are having the problem) then we're never see a fix. <

I removed the Xfi card out of my box - updated the bios, drivers, sound drivers. Still exactly the same symptons. Which is good as it takes the Xfi card out of the frame. Onboard sound had exactly the same issue with no xfi present I did briefly downgrade to Nvidia 174.74 as I read somewhere that had worked better but no joy on this. I think i've pretty much exhausted every option now - really need the devs to get involved and give us some things to try :(

I'm not sure if this posts helps. http://forums.nvidia.com/lofiversion/index.php?t10946.html but it implies that the issue is with the nforce drivers or bios - if it is indeed related!
I have an ASUS a8n-sli deluxe with a Creative Audigy 2. And you're right, it might be easier to just bag it and run with /nosound if the sound weren't so darn integral to this game's presentation (which I maintain is magnificent).
My Motherboard is a Assus A8N-E....

Great updates, thank you. I'm hoping you have the /nosound issue in your main list of issues. If people find a significant performance increase by using /nosound on the command line then please post to here http://forums.demigodthegame.com/348232 . This issue is a real deal breaker for me :( Needs to be a sticky on the /nosound issue imho.

Excellent post thank you :) If you do find you get a significant performance increase please post to http://forums.demigodthegame.com/348232 . Only if enough people show they have the issue will we have any hope the issue will get resolved. /nosound is a workaround but the option of playing with nosound is not great Tals

Out of interest what motherboards do people have. I use a Nforce 4 Ulta Motherboard. Has everyone here got an Xfi Sound Card - with my tests I did disable the Xfi and use the onboard sound card and with the Xfi disabled it went fast but when I used the onboard sound card (which also supported 5.1) it went slow. The only thing I didn't do was take the Xfi sound card out. If someone confirms that when they did that the performance was significantly better with the onboard card than just
At this point, looking at the history with SupCom, I'd be grateful to hear anything from the devs on this. Even bad news is better than being left in the dark. Though as I said before, I can't even imagine what aspect of a sound engine could justifiably double or triple system load. This would be easier if Demigod were a crappy game, then I'd just stop playing it
Agreed at the moment i'm looking at a stop
Hmm, I'd never heard of the sound issue in SupCom. I never actually had any issues that were soudn related in that game, but it looks like that was primarily for XFi (I'm running Audigy2). Lets hope we have better luck this time =P
If you read the gaspowered thread you'll see its very much an issue in SC - 18 pages, it was also more Audigby 2 - but that appeared to be 'solvable' by turning off 5.1 M

Agreed it doesn't look good. I'm going to be trying a load of stuff tonight. If I hit the jackpot i''ll post but it would be nice for a dev to get involved and either give us options to force sound to be a lower quality eg mono etc or just give some more input. Certainly I believe the issue is more widespread than was appretiated. Tals
Quoting Hollow Man, reply 23Aryanna and Renwold, your issue sounds like mine. Does the problem go away if you zoom in on your Demigod? Zoom and move around to a different part of the map? I've noticed this can help at times. Also, does it happen in multiplayer? Like I said, I think this happens when the AI calls get to be too much, it overloads the processing, and sucks the framerate down. -HM<br /

Interesting Supreme Commander which uses the same engine also seemed to have this problem - I couldn't find a solution but others maybe more sucessful. This thread here seems a good starting point http://forums.gaspowered.com/viewtopic.php?t=295&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=

:( I tried that this morning, unfortunately it was already on that. It almost feels like the game doesn't use hardware acceleration or the EAX stuff at all. Hopefully we can keep this topic alive and get a solution - when I did a search this is not a new issue :( Tals

I've been having issues with Demigod performance. I had assumed it was my processor as its an AMD 3200+, 8800GT and 2 GB Ram. However after seeing a similar post I tried the following. Skirmish Map - Brothers. First with sound Game starts at Sim Speed of 4, then I go and cap the Portal to the right as I approach it moves down till hit hits 0 and stays there. Then without sound using the /nosound option Game starts at Sim Speed 4, I cap - s

I think I have found the cause. If you run demigod with /nosound running the brothers map. Game comes in Sim Speed 4. I then walk over to the right Portal and open that up. Game remains at Sim Speed 4 and is around 45fps. I then hit some peeps coming at me all at Sim Speed 4. I now do the same game but this time with sound. Again Sim Speed 4 but as soon as I start walking towards the Portal it moves down to Sim Speed 3 and 2. After taking it its then on Sim Speed 1 and around

I have an AMD 3200+, 8800GT and 2GB Ram. Not a great system but certainly shouldn't have problems. When I do the fly over its smooth. When the peeps come into view it starts chugging. I tend to find it plays witha sim speed of between -1 to 1. Graphics I play on medium 1280x1024. If I change to low it makes no difference. Which would point at processor. However their is nota lot happening to kill the game in this way. I also have a bit of a wayward processor. If it maxes a
