UI Improvement In the ship design screen, the ship templates should have a filter for hull size.

Well what he means by DRM is , at First Space Rangers 2 was cd with Star force a really aggressive copy protection. Then it went to D2D which is almost a DRM license , you could only install the game on one computer at the time and every new install you had to get a license and activate it and so on, add on the fact it was some what iffy if you could install it to a new different computer or even a upgraded one.
Very nice, was just about to crack and buy this off D2D but totalgaming.net got it, PERFECT. Good day, between X3 being on a rival network and this. Darn i never going to find the time to finish Baldurs gates....
Well I thought of one other suggestion, would need a UI for it and may be a pain to make a AI smart about it. But how bout a Weapon battery/bank system, depending on size of ship there a # of weapon batteries which is a set of weapons grouped together. Could use the old combat system can treat each batterie as if its like a diffrent ship, and even use the old defense system, it makes a decision for the player to concentrate all the weapons in one primary bank to puncuture heavyly shielded ship
Say the real key is how crazy you going to make weapon selection. If ship has all diffrent weapons type will , will the simulation pick the efficent weapon first against the ship with a inefficent defense against said weapon.Know already have some intelegence of trying to attack ship with most offense and least defense values first. Though would imagine all the algroithms for decision making on weapons selection would be slower than alot of random die rolls.
Um sorry frogboy but didn't you just double the random rolls for each defensive roll for each segement. One defensive roll at least reduces the number of dies rolled. And dunno couldn't be some method of seeding the numbers first? to speed up the rolling. Though your method certiantly negates a bad or good roll for defense, say a 60 defense ship rolls a 1-5 then you may have alot of weapons going through. But will say defensive reroll for each ship, one ship weapon fires all at nearl
Ack won't let me edit my post, but mean "I think Ceylins suggestion with the weapons fired in order of smallest up is best"
I was thinking that myself about the defense and going thru the weapons. May I add something may want to figure a algotrithm to optimze weapon selection, try to make it more optimal. Either just go weakest weapon up, so a Doom ray isn't wasted on a no defense 10 hp small ship, other possbility is more intesive is select the weapon in according to size of opponent larger ship size pick the bigger weapons first though the algorithms for that type of caculations is almost a knapsack problem. Haha! Agreed. But why would I want to do that? Nevermind, don't answer that. Fine I'll just draw a picture/mental image ' sn 'name' ow ' among other things and the military has spent a good amount of money trying to find a soulution for it. As far as HOMMV from the demo and reviews its HOMM3 just with b
Wow... just.... wow. We can learn ALMOST anything a man can? Tell me one thing you CAN learn that I CAN'T. At least El Conquest had the decency to qualify his asinine statement. Sorry Shirt just begs for this response a guy can learn to "Pee while standing up" and with out getting it on our legs. Now the aiming part even some guys can't even l
Thought i saw courage somewhere , it gives your land troops or ships a bonus when they outnumbered/ overpowered. I forgot exactly which.
"What's the point? A weaponless defender can never win, and will delay an attacking fleet/ship for exactly one turn. That's it. In a real time strategy game, such a strategy is useful, since if the attacking ship takes 25 minutes to beat down your defender, you can keep building in the meantime. But in a turnbased game?"</T
Well should throw this on the awacs, I used this effectivly against the dread lords picking off there transports. Take a cargo hull load it with a laser and then just load it with engines. Made super fast ships and with sensor ships to help spot targets and keep it out of danger (it is a rather expensive ship with just how many engines and the cargo hull). I could pick of dread lord transports, now in the sand box game haven't attempted this much bet
Spincontrol makes the ship station over the planet look some multiple more powerful. So a ranger and a few good ships on the planet makes it look like you have a fleet of Terrorstars if not more powerful in military might. Which brings up dose the ai know enough if it sees that huge fleet and if it got a good espinoage will it check the planet for spin control and try to compensate?
Ah I have had two games where i found and colonized planets above 20, think one of the highest i found is 26 or so. Current game do belive have 2 above 20 one was natural other was 18 and then got a increase pq event have the first level of the race attribute to increase planet quaility
