Why would Demigod contact the server when you're going to play single-player? And what if I play it on a PC with no net connection (say, a notebook in a plane)? Inquiring minds want to know.
To give everyone an idea of what I'm talking about I made a mock up of what this would like in Demigod. Here Hopefully everybody can just appreciate the joke and not get hung up on it...
[e digicons][/e] That, sir, was gold. Thanks.
You won't have an email coming because you were in the beta and already got it months ago
Oh, I thought I'd be getting a new "release" CD-key, for some reason. Glad to know that, thanks! Now I just have to wait to get off work and go home to download Demigod... [e digicons][/e]

Torchbearer, most likely... I really like casters. But I haven't really tried the other Demigods much (except for Regulus and brief attempts at QoT and Oak), so that might change.

I pre-ordered by the time the first official video/trailer was released (September/October, I guess?), and still got no email...
Not necessarily. It's not just about opening ports and such. A lot of older routers simply don't handle sockets correctly or just do other flakey, bugey stuff. A router, is, in effect, a little PC and the software on the consumer ones is often very buggy that has gotten a lot better over the years.
Yeah, I know that (and I should, since one of the things I work with is networking :-D). What I meant is: supposing my router treat

Some already implemented systems that prevent micromanagement: 1) Flags to control general interests for the AI. Examples: Majesty. 2) Flags and special areas to control interests and production rates of units. Examples: Globulation. 3) Squads in which composition is more important than micromanagement. Examples: Kohan. I'd personally go for a mix of all 3. Get abstract sliders to control squads composition (or maybe a "squad designer", if you want a little mor

Ok, I've been coding in C++ for at least 5 years, I love gaming and game design, and I'm a major geek. I'm also quite self-starting, whatever that might be. In short, I'd love to work with you guys, and I appreciate the proposal, but I'm in Brazil, so I fail item #1 in the checklist. :-( Who knows... maybe someday. BTW, usual work week in Brasil is 44 hours, so that's one more thing I would have no problems with... bummer. Well, at least I get to PLAY the games. ;-)

OK, let's break it down. I'll comment on the ones I know. diablo 2 - not sure if it allows multiplayer without the CD in place... maybe. mythos - Mythos might be dead, with Flagship going down. neverwinter nights 1 and 2 - though they allow LAN multiplay, I'm not sure about the CD requirements. It seems to me that the latest NWN 1 patches disabled the CD check, so it might be possible, but I'm not sure. Freelancer - nope, you need two CDs. Not sure about LAN p

Ok, here are my recommendations. Some are old games, some are recent, but all of them are good (IMHO): Civilian Flight Simulators: - FSX - X-Plane 9.0 Combat - Prop planes (WW2): - IL-2 1946 - Battle of Britain II: Wings of Victory (fantastic... AI is brilliant, great campaign) Combat - Jet planes - Mig Alley (feels like props, but with jets; dogfights are fantastic. One of my favorites) - Falcon 4.0 Allied Force (campaign is still unrivalled i
