I didn't find it very interesting.

Wow, super work pacov and adam. Much appreciated. I just bought an 80 GB PS3 off of ebay and i have been reading up on issues just in case. Very fortuitous that this was posted/updated here.. although I'm sorry you had to go through the pain.
I won't go too far down the path... I just wondered what type of enhancements a suit needs to have to give you that type of leverage in mid-air ;) I just picked up a ps3 and am looking fwd: to some of this monotony. Demon's Souls is on the way. Dante's is my next choice I believe. Bayonetta, GoW collection... a few others. My son wants CoD:MW2 to play with his friends. Then I can get into the RPG's... (not cross-titles like DA:O though).
Hmm.. what was up with grabbing that giant bullet and shoving it back down into the arm? I guess it didn't have much force behind it if our hero was able to turn it around in mid-air like that. I need to see a bit more gameplay outside of boss fights. Looks like there is some potential here but I saw some moments which made me think that monotony could set in...
I picked the game up finally and have played through a few maps. Not a bad game and one that I will probably continue with. I have never played the earlier games in the series but from what I am seeing so far I feel nostalgic for HoMM3. Even 5. Heroes5 definitely had its issues but that series just did this type of game right. Everything was a bit more intuitive than D3.
The site says that purchase is not available until August 21st
The gold box games had some great manuals. Microprose games always had some good stuff. I don't know if I would call Apocalypse the golden age but it did have a big manual for some reason, as did Homeworld, Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale... Although I think that the golden age probably covers a wide period of time and means something different to each person. For me it was walking into Babbages or Electronics Boutique and seeing nothing but four walls covered in box
Well, I got a response today that asked me to make sure my card and billing information was entered correctly... and to contact them with any further issues. Seriously? Perhaps I should have listened to you pacov and sent my message to support instead of just sales.... The non-response from sales has left me feeling a bit dry. I politely responded back that my information was indeed correct. No reply yet. Tomorrow perhaps?
I have done a quick search for info re: veteran heroes. Not much other than people reporting bugs.
quoting post Wing Commander Series: The pinnacle of "Space Opera" solid combat and story. Never have I been so immersed in space. this (except imo tie fighter and freespace 2 were better games). the space combat genre is dead
I agree. I lost half a year to tie fighter. I didn't even own a computer at that time.. I just showed up at my buddy's house every day...
Nostalgia plays a big part in saying that PC gaming is losing it's edge. I mean, I love all of the games mentioned but I don't particularly love playing them now. When I think back to the games that helped shape my youth and have stuck in my mind over time.. there are some gems. Bards Tale Might and Magic I and II Warlords Castles Below the Root Powermonger Alternate Reality Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord Poo
Anyhow, it strikes me as another somewhat broken mechanic (not being able to afford your heroes) - I mean, I could hire him, if the map took a LONG time, but by then, most of the enemies would be dead.
Is the game like HOMM in that you only start with bare resources? It does seem odd that they would allow you the option to purchase veteran heroes.. but no way to actually afford them. I suppose one thought would be that a level 18 decked-out veteran he
I like what I am reading. Unfortunately I have not been able to purchase the game yet. Impulse gives me a rather funny message (after the Processing... bar) that my order has been denied! Below that it puts the word "Success!". I'm guessing that the system was successful in denying my order.... I sent an email to sales. Hopefully I get resolution soon. I didn't think I was an instant gratification type person.. but I really want to play this
I think nostalgia plays a large part as well. Having played MoM when it was released I really enjoy going back for a bit now. The same thing happened when I read a post here re: Warlords being available. I grabbed it and played the heck out of it for a few days. It was like meeting up with an old friend again. There are definitely some limitations to look past but all in all both games are solid for what they are.
Thanks GroWi - this actually looks like a pretty good game. $25 for two copies and beta accessx2. I'll bite.
I have been on a gaming semi-hiatus as we are in the middle of selling a house/buying a new house/moving/whatever... I don't know about SC2 - you'll have to keep us posted with your impressions pacov (and trouser). I may look at it once I get settled.
Someone recently posted a link to a Warlords site that had information about all four games as well as downloads for 1 and 2. I played quite a bit of Warlords on my old Laser 286.. great memories. Impulse has King's Bounty Gold on sale for $15 down from $45. You get both Kngs Bounty and Armored Princess. Super deal!
Can you guys add me to Tier 4? Is this the wrong thread??
Apologies for having to step away last night. My daughter was having a sleepover here and her friend came into the room crying that she wanted to go back home :( I tried to placate them for a few minutes but in the end I just had to walk her back across the street. Thanks for the game though. As I have gotten DA for every random game lately I am starting to pick him up a bit :)
I appreciate the feedback pacov. I wonder how many people actually use third party firmware around here. I ended up going with Tomato as I really wanted just a basic/streamlined set-up... and the result is... Wow!! I cannot believe the difference in my internet. Pages load almost instantly when I click now.. I have been suffering through a noticable delay for awhile. Not an extended amount of time.. just a second or three. Actu
Waiting for my new router to arrive and I wanted to pick some brains on these two pieces of firmware. I know that pacov has recently started using DD-WRT and I think that he is enjoying it. What does anyone else think about the two? I am not going to be doing anything funky with the router. i just need to connect my main PC, a laptop, a couple of DS's, a Wii, a PS3 and an iPod touch. I have been using a Netgear MR814 which has been fairly reliable, but I notice
Played it on the PC quite a bit and then picked it up for the iPod a few weeks ago. Fun little game.
Damn! I forgot how much I used to enjoy this game... it just sucked another 3.5 hours from my life.
Wow! Runs much quicker than it did on my old Laser 286. Even with the Turbo button engaged to kick me up from 8 MHz to 12 MHz.... The sound is not there though. If I remember correctly all the sound for this game came out of the little PC speaker which I do not have hooked up (I think). Does DosBox allow you to push that sound through your soundcard/onboard audio?
