I second my question above and add a new one: What does miniaturization actually do? I checked my Stinger Missile Size before researching miniaturization, it was 18. After researching Basic Miniaturization (which gives miniaturization +10, whatever that means) my missile size was still 18. Since component size increases with hull size a huge ship has just one or two more weapons than a tiny ship. Which is a really fricken stupid to have made ship design.
