The problem isn't that attack-move is no longer A. The problem is that attack-move is appearently no longer there at all . WASD as a screen mover is pretty much where the sub-genre needs to go - see Multiwinia for the perfect RTT camera control.
The fact of the matter is if this game is going to succeed is has to become more than Dota
The fact of the matter is if this game is going to succeed is has to have as little as possible to with Dota. Dota is one thing - Counterstrike 1.6 in 2008. A completely outdated game, which had free engine and art assets (no cost of development), as well as free for the people playing it, which is only played by a small hardcore fanbase, utterly opposed to any newcomers. Visual changes to demigods based on abilities are already in, kind of. The Rook changes appearance as you unlock his passive tower upgrades, and I believe the Unclean Beast has some visual change when activating that rage buff thing. It would of course be far better if the visual changes would be more widespread, and would be more and more pronounced as the abilities are leveled up, but the engine possibility is there. And I can only second Bardus - spell FX needs to show that

Damn you. For a second I got my hopes up and thought they'd finish Conquest 2 or make a new one. Reply #1 is right. The name Conquest is already taken, by the best 2 axis RTS of the old generation. Incidentally, for all people that want a real Conquest fix - the files for the alpha version of Conquest 2 are floating around on the net (legally) - I recommend trying it.
If I recall correctly Daton a graphic card of 512 megs back early 2007 was very expensive. So if you were able to buy all new parts including a monitor and the tower all for less then 800$ I want to know how. Frankly it,s hard to believe. Crysis was a pc hog and still is today. Danm it's recommended specs are asking for a core 2 duo. That's becoming main stream now. I don't think most computers had core 2 duo back a year ago and this was Jan 2007. Lets not f
1. Total War--I love this series. However, there are many issues that need improvement in this series that don't require new tech. The main one that irks me no end is the clipping that happens constantly when zooming into the battlefield. The sound is great, the graphics are as real as ever, and yet . . . every close up soldier breaks apart into squarish chunks when you get to close to them. I'm excited for Empire:TW, but I'm certain that despite all

They don't need to make guesses about their audience - the have the numbers. That's probably the most valuable tool any game developer can have. Sure, people can philosophize about why the numbers are what they are - but at the end of the day, the numbers speak for
Did you read that after you posted it? You're stating that the customer base has more sophisticated rigs than reported, because the customer base has been inflated by all those users that wouldn't be customers without the older, highly popular game they're still playing on their outdated machines.
Actually I'm stating that IMPULSE customer base would have more sophisticated rigs - the STEAM customer base has a host of underpowered machines
If we have a brief look at some of the more recent, highly successful games (Team Fortress 2, Call of Duty 4, World of Warcraft, Sins of a Solar Empire and World in Conflict - games I just happen to own) we can see that there is a possible relationship between their success and their system requirements. All games mentioned above have very reasonable system requirements and efficient game engines. If you own a system that was built 4 years ago, chances are you could still pl

So far in all the advertisements I've seen it never said it was particularly heavy in the RTS, just that certain demigods had more RTS qualities. OR, you could go with more hack/slash diablo like demigods. Even if that isn't fully relized in beta 10000, if thats the final product then sales are going to be fantastic. Heck, it doesn't even n

A rule like "retreat when health is down to 25%" might be good in many cases but sometimes you will want him to keep firing etc. Warcraft III has auto-casting for most of the spells of non-hero units but good players disable most of it in most situations because an AI is too dumb to know when it is good to use a spell and on
