I love the Al Sharpton quote. Its the best so far in this series. I don't think the SJWs are used to having people fight back. It reminds me of the reaction of the Muslims when they ran into Charles Martel and his Frankish warriors:"Hey! These guys aren't running away! That's not fair" Imagine that.

I loved the warlord's style stack setup.....I play the game on my pocket pc all the time. I think the logistics limitation will balance the mega-fleets very well. 1. I think the weapons/defense triad is a great idea....giving the combat a dimension of depth like unto the warlords bonuses for terrain and so forth. 2. Love the idea of nebulas/asteroids.....perhaps ship enhancments/penalties that allow bounuses/negatives near or in nebulas or asteroids? 3. the per plan
Ultimately, the lack of 3rd party applications affects the price and overall quality of the OS. Without 3rd party programs to "push" the OS companies into action, they will spend years and years not putting in essential features because they don't see a mass-market appeal. It's sort of the same thing with gaming. The new ideas waiting to sweep the nation don't because good ideas have to be creative babies before they can become adults and it seems t
Galciv made the Hall of Belated Fame at the Home of the Underdogs. Its a site for all of the underdog games that never got the credit they deserved........ http://www.the-underdogs.org/game.php?id=4891
I will say that I believe it is implied that the Witch-King is a numenorean, but tolkien never comes out and says it. As He always says: "The power of fantasy flourishes on reticence."
Well you're right in there being Numenoreans......there were three(I stand corrected). However, the text does not connect the names of the three numenoreans with any of the Nine: snip from http://www.glyphweb.com/Arda/faq/nazgul.html "What are the Names of the Nine Nazgul? One of them, the second in rank after the Lord of the Nazgûl himself, was named Khamûl, and also known as the Black Easterling. This is the only one of the nine Nazgûl explicitly named by Tolkien.
There were two lines of kings of numenor, one was isildur and the other was anarion. Anarion founded Gondor and His line died when the king went to fight the Witch King. The other was from Isildur and was in the north in Arnor. That king died when His boat foundered in the Ice Bay of Forochel and He drowned. Since Arnor was destroyed, the line of the kings became anonymous rangers that lived in Rivendell. The story doesn't get interesting until Aragorn visits Gondor under the surnam
I think that the expansion is worth the 24.95 price because stardock does good work and always puts in lots of real extras. For me, I would pay the 24.95 on top of my drengin.net because of my relationship with stardock and the game. And the truth is, you are not selling to the casual gamer but to a very narrow bandwith of specific gamers. People in our market will look at the features more and compare the prices more and we are not very likely to make impulse decisions so much. I
The word "expansion pack" with gamers makes them feel that they are not getting their money's worth, even if in many cases you are, because the word 'expansion' seems to lend to the idea that it is a bunch of extra stuff that they didn't have time to put into the original but there is no actual tremendous amount of work being done here---just a little profit taking by the developers. Sort of the "whatever we have left lying around the office we will put into an expansion pack" mentality. Sinc
One drawback tho.........the AI is not as cool as GalCiv.....but that stands to reason since Galciv is revolutionary.........but it is nice to see an old friend taken up a notch................
I just got Warlords IV:Heroes of Etheria and wow! It's a considerable evolutionary leap over Warlords III. Warlords 3 had some differences from 2, notably the fleshing out of the heroes and experience for individual units---but the game seemed like an upgraded version of 2 with better graphics and a few fundamental design changes---and oh yeah, campaigns as well.......... But Warlords IV has taken the game to the next level in several ways: 1. Heroes do a lot less tha
I have drengin.net, but I would buy it for $20.00 if it came available..............right now Galciv is by far the best 4x game ever and anything which gives it more depth is worth the investment..........
I think that an expansion pack is good strategy for the future of the game.......if it brings substantial new th ings to the game itself. Most of us users would be happy to pay $20.00 to get something like that. It would mean more free press(hopefully) and an extension to the life game in terms of providing you with more resources to invest in it. This is about investing in this product. If we are willing to invest 20 bucks each then we can keep a high level of support and updates fo
The point of excessive organizing and re-organizing is a good point.......it could wind up being really irritating problem after a while.....
logistics would be a good thing for ships, it could add a layer of effectiveness to the combined use of arms. One thing that could be added though is the idea that the further you get from your nearest planet or starbase, the more logistic points are required to maintain your fleet. This would put a soft range limit on how far fleets could go and would seriously impede endgame super-fleet tactics. If you tied the logistic maintenance to nearest starbases they couldn't jus
Find out how much of a geek you are by taking this test...........I scored 35%....major geek, I guess...........Adam http://www.innergeek.us/geek.html
I think if there is any point made it is that the harder levels of the AI are not forcing me to change my strategy, but do my same strategy faster. I think, however, it is an issue that is being addressed by going through this process of tweaking......adding the necessary depth to make the AI pick up on our cheese tactics. Once there are enough layers on the AI, this will all pan out. I remember back in Warlords 2 Deluxe, you could set your enemies to have different AI varia
"In a game about building a sprawling galactic empire, tough decisions add strategic depth and character-two qualities that Galactic Civilizations has in spades. Random events add flavor and force you to make strategic trade offs." "The game doesn't reveal its hand all at once. It seduces you with its simplicity and trickles all of the good stuff out over time, makes each game a little bit different than the one before, keeps you coming back for more. From the moment you choose your
One of the MOST addictive games in all existence......I Know, I Know.....I've got the galciv bug pretty bad but this game is just as bad....... It's a variation on the bejeweled idea....but crosses it with scrabble and boggle so that you have to make words to make the tiles disappear.....then it adds bonus word modifiers and burning tiles that you have to take care of before they reach the bottom or your game is over...... The site is http://www.popcap.com/bookworm.php
"Games are often faulted for failing to introduce new ideas, when their real failing is that the ideas they do use aren't put together well. Galactic Civilizations is the epitome of good design: You have to step back from the game to look at what you're playing, since it flows so well and you may miss the individual parts. you only notice they fit together perfectly. You've seen this kind of planetary development, trade, diplomacy, technology research, and simplified starship combat in
1)A global social build command....for building 1 thing on all the planets....esp useful when terraforming comes up. 2)More depth in combat area. Needs clearer role definition all throughout. Perhaps different emphasis for capital ships. Battleships could be cheap, Dreadnoughts would be the most heavily armoured but no more powerful than a battleship, Rangers would be much faster and harder to detect with slightly more armor than a battleship and slightly more powerful, Avatars would
I will also be a moderator on this forum............. :)
I do think one point has been raised, that is the fact that the AI has to have a better sense of starbase strategy/tactics. Not just destroying enemy starbases too close to their system or grabbing resources, but building effective culture-prevention starbases, employing starbase culture bombs, building up stronger sector based centers of activity. I have noted that the AI is doing this more in the current version, and it has made it harder to overcome them. If I were the
Keeping the AI in mind when making suggestions is always a good point. That said: 1)I like the logistics ability for one reason:It can give a small well organized empire an edge over a larger military empire. It might actually add a ton of difficulty in beating the smaller opponents, esp. if the dimensions of logistics were applied to ships as a whole(perhaps reducing maint. or something). 2)As far as Adv. constructors go. I would like to see them as keys to getting upper le
