Reply to Demi vs. DotA in Demigod

Nessin, I didn't. I bought the War Chest which included all of it. :)

I'm at work today talking with some friends who are all hardcore gamers (10 or more years constant gaming) and telling them about Demi. Really giving them the wonders (and pitfalls) of the title. Of course, we all understand that this is VERY early beta so that's taken into account and all sins are forgiven. Well the topic of DotA came up and basically I had to tell them that so far there's no gameplay that's new beyond what you get in DotA. So here's the question I want to post and p

Abix, I gave you some karma! Great post and thanks much, the replies were awesome as well. I think the "Demi vs DotA" argument has a long ways to run before we hear the end of it.

Stardock, I see in another post that some error messages are revealing that LUA is being used. How much can we mod the engine itself? I don't mean just putting a new skin but actual functional mods. Puhleeze? Thanks!

HOLY CRAP! LUA?? Dear Stardock please oh please tell me that we can write LUA mods for this game? PLEASE???? Hell, if you need someone to help shepherd the LUA community I'll volunteer right now. [e digicons]

After some testing with Orlean on Vista64 it looks like you can install the latest version of Hamachi (version 1.0.3.0) and it will work fine with the earlier versions.

WHAT?!?!? Am I right in seeing that the company owner has a 7X-series video card?? Hmmm, that might just be the default choices in the dropdown. Hopefully Frogboy, you are a little more hardware agressive than that! [e digicons][/e]

As soon as I get my key I'll be doing the same FB. Nice to see this going live today! Of course, it's really a pity that today of all days my truck decided not to work. So sad. [e digicons]:pout:[/e]

Brn, yeah that point and the "update everything" point are two I have issues with. But you gotta admit their pro-gamer stance is a hell of a lot better than, oh let's say, Sony. True fact: Sony Hates Gamers. That's why I don't buy Sony products. Innociv: Don't know about anyone else but I talked at least 4 people into buying Sins and there's at least a dozen at my work who know about Stardock just because of that game. Now that Demi's coming out I've been chatting with

OK, I totally LOL'ed at the Gamers Bill of Entitlement! But, I absolutely HAVE to agree with this closing comment: "Reward them, and you help transform Stardock's list from what it really is—conveniences marketed to gain a competitive advantage—into industry standards that few will dare not meet." Yes, Stardock/GPG has a TON of self-interest in their list, and no-one in either company is stupid enough to be blind to the marketing bonus this gives them. Doesn

So, like Sins of a Solar Empire, I'm not pre-ordering this game because of the game itself. Sure it looks awesome, and I am excited about it, but no. I'll be preordering early Thursday morn (payday, dontcha know!) solely because I want to applaud the Gamer's Bill of Rights. No, it's not perfect, yes, there's issues with it. But I pre-ordered Sins merely because I wanted to support a company that was fighting back against DRM. Now, I'll support Brad's run on the GBoR as w
