I can confirm the problem. Interestingly enough, the error occurs only when I start a new campaign mission, not when I continue my current one. (In which I fail, hence the need to restart.)

Wow. I dub this "greatest enhancement proposal ever", especially the Rules of Engagement part. I phrophesize limitless possibilities here, and given Stardocks reputation with AI it should be much more fun than tactical battles could ever be, and grants a welcome amount of unforeseeability in both your own ship's actions as well as the outcome of conflicts. Noticed the same thing yesterday. I played the first two missions, setting it to "Tough" both times, and the behaviour was exactly as described here. What's weird: Before starting the second mission, I set the difficulty to Tough and proceeded to the race customization screen, then went back to the mission description/difficulty screen to review my objectives. After clicking "Back", the difficulty panel showed "Normal" in big, friendly letters. Are you sure the difficu
