I thought farms already give a population growth bonus. For example, if you have a planet with a max pop of 5 and pop growth of 5, build a farm on it and you'll be able to get to a max pop of 9, but the pop growth will also increase to 9. Correct me if I'm wrong >.>

I noticed something, but I don't know if it's really the case. When a freigher enters the area of influence of an econ starbase with trade modules, the value of the trade route increases by the percentage on the starbases. The problem is when it leaves the area of influence, it goes back to it's value. That would mean it would be wiser to cover the whole trade route with econ starbases instead of massing them in one single sector. It would also be better to put the starbases on the route itself,

Well, I was too pissed off (and it was 4 am) so I didn't have the time to test it. I reloaded the last autosave 5 minutes ago, and it was only 3 turns before the bug happened. I wasn't able to reproduce it, though :/

I know it changes the number of votes you have in the united council, and it increases the chances of getting your prefered government and being able to go to war if you're using another government that imperial. But reading some strategies for gigantic maps, most people say it's imperative to have 100% approval, even in the early stages of the game where you don't have a special type of government. Is there something I'm missign about the effect of a high approval rating?

I just noticed the problems I had with the forums were related to me using firefox. Considering most people use firefox nowadays, you should do something about the compatibility with those users. (Back on topic )

(The forums suck...I wrote a full post only to have it dissapear with a "could not send post" message...oh well) Basically, I was playing a Large map with 8 AI races on tough. Only 5 of them remained, and I was building up my influence and converting all their planets. I had about 5000 bc/week of income (after counting all the spending), and had well over 150000 bc in bank. All of the sudden, my treasure goes down to around -17 MILLION bc, and no mather how many turns I pass,

I hate how I'm done conquering everyone of their planets except their main base (with industrial and economic capital) and their PQ4 planet, and they decide to surrender to someone else. I know I'd do the same thing as them in multiplayer, but it's really annoying, especially when the planets have some galactic achievements or trade goods you want

The problem is we don't want to handicap ourselves only to have an AI that acts correctly. We want the AI to challenge us without needing a 200% economic boost, or 50 turns to build it's military. I was playing a game 5 minutes ago: Gigantic, 9 AIs on tough. I was doing my stuff in peace when the drenging, the terran and the torian attack me all at once. I had the time to research missiles all the way to harpoon, get warp drive, and build a couple of ships before ever seeing an enemy ship

I found a PQ26 planet...rush built a colony ship to snatch it, and when I got there a random event appeared, giving me the choice to improve the planet's quality by 39% I think at the end it was a PQ36 planet

I agree with the OP here..the AI needs to be more agressive. Sure, some of his suggestions aren't possible or would make the game unplayable or cause performance issues, but I bet he's not the only one who abandons games early just because conquering all the galaxy is a cakewalk. When I first started playing, I got thrashed by the AI even on lower difficulty levels than Normal...but once I started playing better I win all of my games with relative ease. I usually see Ais fighting eachother,

In a couple of games I was announced I had discovered a tech named Ultradrive that made all my ships go 50% faster. Maybe creative allows you to discover these awesome techs you wouldn't discover if you didn't spend a point in it?

I noticed this too. Except a couple of planets, most planets I invade mid-game only have half of their improvements built (while I've already terraformed and used all the space i had). They also tend to build improvements on random spaces, instead of using the +100/300% tiles effectively. I once stumbled on a planet that had an embassy on a +300% manufacturing tile, and a factory on a +100% influence tile...

I read somewhere in this forum there is a mod that deletes technology trading between races, so a race's technologies are only the ones he personnally chose to research. I noticed in higher difficulty levels, AI will trade each of their techs to other races, sometimes getting 5-8 different techs for one single tech...and because every race does this, every race ends having the same techs. Sure, you can do this yourself, but I think it takes
