straight across. it can be done in ~5 min (that's mostly pressing the turn button). Effectively, it breaks down to 4 real actions, of which I won't post here. (sorry it's really a big spoiler for that map) The Holy Grail points the way though.

the only way to play this map is to not bother doing anything normal.
Honestly, the campaign could have had more thought put into it. Too many of the maps are just 'take a ship over there and/or take a single planet' then you win. Given the high cost of the 'supporting' ships, there's no other real option other than to do it really really fast, since you can't build an economic capital in most of the maps. A better balance between the good/neutral/evil event options would be nice IMO. Some of the options don't make sense for the weightings. Ie, in one
The korath are suckers for military starbases... drop one down and a small ship to catch their attention. load up the starbase and you'll not have issues with them again. like moths to a flame. works for the DL's as well. (it's how I beat the first campaign map).
This may have been a carry over from DA, but I never noticed it there. I put up military bases and added the module for -2 speed on enemy ships. It slows military ships, but not any Dread Lord nor non-combat ships. Unfortunately that also means the Spore ships get through too. Is this normal? I found this issue on the first campaign map.
the speed was better than some other places. avg. 800+ KB/sec, except for that point where it bumped up to 33386 KB/sec :d much better for digidownloads. The concept only really becomes useful for those with broadband or better, which is becoming much more common.
hmm... I only use custom races :(
don't forget a simple option... train as many spies as they have spots on their planet and cover them. it prevents them from being able to build anything for a long time. they also won't build spies themselves to remove you.
I had a funny map not long ago. medium map with 3 AI on masochistic. the Drengin declared war on me, and the other two attack them. they got wiped out. not long after that one of the AI got annoyed that I was building influence bases and both AI declared war on me. They had more volume and tech. I was pretty much screwed. Then just as they got to my space, Pirates showed up and wiped out all ships/bases on the map. (they were horribly over powered) I had better en
[quote]Yes, MadDjinn, SDC is reporting the version number incorrectly. (Why, I don't know.) But the fix-or rather, one way to fix it-is above in my original post in this thread.I actually thought my instructions were fairly simplistic, and exported the registry key in the first place in an attempt to make things less complicated when people run into this problem. My apologies if I wasn't clear enough.I don't honestly know why people are still running into this problem, but following either my
SDC says that I have 1.80g.100 (downloaded DA this past weekend) and I still have this issue. (on a laptop) For the upgrade, is it a matter of the wrong version shown in SDC? (I'm also on US-1)
yes, hull plating is an improvement to be built. it should be in the documentation about that sort of Super or Galaxy projects. if you have a Super or galaxy project in the build plan of a planet, then no other planets can build it.
did you just hit a tech where you'd auto-build upgrades?
Who's central intelligence? sorry, movie quote... effectively it means that it's not random and light... basically, the more auto-pilot ships in a round that get built, the more likely it is that one or two, or more, may not get scheduled. it could be possible that it's related to hardware, as I've only a 2 GHz AMD Turion 64 X2
what would be nice to see (in DA I guess), would be ships firing visually in the time slot that they actually fire in. Ie, ships on both sides firing when they are supposed to, rather than the side-turn taking that ends up with the weird visuals (after death firing etc).
I've seen it as well, but central intelligence says that it's 'random and light' on the same note, I've also seen this bug happen on the turn after a ship leaves the production planet. Ie, ship made, autopilot for first turn happens, then on second turn, the ship doesn't know where it's going. this seems to be planet specific though, since I've only really seen this on 1 planet (on a gigantic map) case id: 16241 (1.4X save) is the save that it can be found on. #edit:
I think that's a generalized issue with the ship design interface code.. it doesn't take into consideration the boni you accumulated (permanent or semi-perm). Ie, perm: +1 speed at various levels of engines, +1 sensors at sensors, +x range semi-perm: "eyes of..." means don't add sensors...
In this case, the terrans will win due to the coding scheme used in GalCiv2 related to fleet battles. as the entire fleet focuses on a single ship until it is destroyed, the terrans will overcome the Iconians HP for each ship in 2 rounds max, causing a sig loss in overall attack power for the Iconians each time. On the other hand, the Iconians will kill 1-2 Terrans in each round due to 1-2 Iconian ships being needed to destroy each Terran ship. This will cause medium losses in attack power fo
I've only seen issues on massive maps with alot of AI players still in the game (while everyone is at war)... my main issue is getting the memory back when quiting the game. last night it took 30 min looking at the "a few more turns" overlay after selecting yes to exit, before I just turned off the laptop. that was after 2 hrs of gameplay. I'm on a 2.0 AMD Turion 64 x2 with plenty of RAM and video...
oh right, two more: when you have a ship partially built on a planet, then stop the production and upgrade the starport to anything else, the ship previously being produced will eventually get finished despite the lack of a starport. edit: the Mind Control Center... the text states it relates to flipping planets that are ready to go, but it gives 100% economics... (not added into Stock Markets)
still slogging through my first 1.4X game (all races, playing as custom, largest galaxy, lots of planets) List of bugs seen so far: - the Freighter causing the planet to look like a stacked ship (as stated above) - Minor races creating massive amounts of influence starbases - no warning when war declared on you (as stated above) - no capitulation shots (two races now surrendered to others, and only noticed via change in map) - surrender = loss of all ships + sta
same here... 2 x 15% = 30 BC
yes, NVIDIA pooched that set of drivers, and has caused more than just this company pains with the new drivers
... and Turion is for Laptops...
I have it on, and notice some changes... but it's slow to react. Ie, AI X has all missles all the time. Offense + Defense. I choose to become a rock thrower. After I crush their invasion force with crappy rock throwers, their defense shift to protect. I switch to missles. (more damage anyways). kill next invasion force. they switch back to missles. this happens once/twice, then the AI gets bored and never changes from Missle d
